Gray-asexuals are represented by the purple representing asexuality, white representing allosexuality, and gray representing the transition between asexuality and allosexuality, which in turn is meant to represent the infrequent or low feelings of sexuality that gray-asexual people may feel on occasion.

It is an umbrella term used by some Indigenous people as a way to describe their sexual, gender, and/or spiritual identity. Two-Spirit is all-encompassing of LGBTQIA+ identities.

Aroace individuals identify with another orientation label, but in a nonromantic, nonsexual way. For example, AroAces may identify as a bi aroace/bi oriented aroace or gay aroace/gay oriented aroace. This label can be based on any form of nonromantic/nonsexual attraction, such as platonic, sensual, aesthetic, alterous, queerplatonic attraction or a combination of these. The term aroace is used to refer to those who are strictly aromantic and asexual.

The flag launches in 2017 as part of the "More Color More Pride" Campaign in Philadelphia and was designed by a small Philly-based PR agency. The addition of black and brown stripes to the traditional pride flag symbolized people of color, who historically were not always included in aspects of the mainstream gay rights movement.
