Here 's a destroyed jetty (when I revisited the same place a couple of years after I took this photo, it was fixed) in Kato Gatzea village, Pagasitic (Pagasitikos) gulf, Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece.

*Pier from the West Cliff* Number of views as of 20th November 2018 = 380. A shot of Bournemouth Pier, Dorset, England. Taken from Bournemouth's West Cliff, close to Durley Chine. Even at this time of year, the gorse bushes are beginning to flower. On the horizon, to the left - Southbourne and Hengistbury Head. To the right - Alum Bay and The Needles on the Isle of Wight. Date: 3rd December 2008.

Gales in May 1947 forced the 7,000 ton ship, 'Port Royal Park', onto the pier, causing severe damage. Repairs costing £28,000, included underpinning of the cast iron columns and the installation of new reinforced concrete columns. The pier re-opened in 1950. In August 1966, the paddle steamer 'Bristol Queen', operated by the White Funnel line, also collided with the pier in dense fog, again causing serious damage. Cruises on the White Funnel fleet, owned by the famous Bristol based P & A Cambell Ltd, ceased operating in 1981 and over the years, this trade has dwindled with the commercial shipping companies having now all disappeared. This image is of the Bayfield piers as they project out into Lake Huron. It was an early spring day, the ice had gone leaving the lake waters this amazing turquoise colour. The blue of the sky seemed to blend seamlessly with the water to create a gentle colour gradient The day was so calm that the water was almost textureless. It was a sight to behold.

And the story of my craving for fish on that one Lisbon morning continues. As I walk the long walk along the endless path from Casilhas to Boca Do Vento, this is one of the spots that I came across for fine dining overlooking the Tagus River. Even though the location was quite intriguing and the scenery was beautiful, I decided that it wasn't time for lunch yet. And I kept walking. And I'm glad I did. Bournemouth 'Bells Number of views as of 9th September 2018 = 5360. Number of sales as of 9th September 2018 = 4. Bournemouth Pier (Dorset, England) in springtime, pictured from the West Cliff along with a cluster of seasonal bluebells. At the end of the pier is a helter-skelter, in place ready for the start of the holiday season. The building centre right is one of the new lifeguard stations that have sprung up along the shore in recent years. Date: 16th May 2010.

*Bournemouth Pier* Number of views as of 12th February 2019 = 3590. The story of Bournemouth Pier begins in December 1847, when it was proposed that a company be formed to raise the £2,000 needed to fund the construction of a new pier. The initial scheme fell through due to lack of finance, and so it was decided to build a small jetty instead. The jetty was opened in 1856, but was damaged by a storm in August of that same year and had to be demolished. In 1859, a 1,000 foot (over 300 metres) long wooden pier was designed, and this structure was completed and officially opened in September 1861 at a cost of £3418. As cruise ships leave Southampton docks heading for the English Channel, something of an optical illusion is created as they pass Hythe Pier. Hythe Pier was built in 1879 and is the 7th longest in the UK. A light railway links the pier head to a passenger ferry terminal at the far end of the pier. Boscombe Pier Number of views as of 21st June 2018 = 650. Boscombe lies a couple of miles to the east of Bournemouth, Dorset on the south coast of England. The Boscombe Pier Company was formed in 1886 and construction of the town's pier commenced in 1888. The first pile was driven into the sea bed by Lady Shelley, daughter-in law of the poet Percy Shelley. Simply designed as a promenade deck with a landing stage at the head, the 600ft (183m) wood and iron pier was opened by the Duke of Argyll on 29th July 1889 at a cost of around £12,000. It was sold to Bournemouth Corporation in 1904. Buildings were erected at both the shoreward and seaward ends in a bid to attract more visitors, and one unusual feature was the skeleton of a 65ft (19.6m...

Originally opened in 1904, the Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare (North Somerset, England) remains open despite two fires, in 1930 and 2008. The pier is 366 metres long. The town's other pier (Birnbeck Pier) is now derelict. 11th February 2024.

Driftwood, Keyhaven Jetty Number of views as of 19th October 2016 = 240. Keyhaven is a small fishing village on the south coast of England, between Milford-on-Sea and Lymington, Hampshire. A mile or so north-east of the village, this iron-clad jetty juts out into the Solent, with great views across to the Isle of Wight and Hurst Castle further to the south-west. If you look carefully beyond the jetty, you can just see the Isle of Wight ferry, which crosses from Lymington to Yarmouth and back. Date: 16th March 2014.
