Trajan's Market is a large complex of ruins in the city of Rome, Italy, located on the Via dei Fori Imperiali, at the opposite end to the Colosseum. It was probably built in 100-110 AD by Apollodorus of Damascus, an architect who always followed Trajan in his adventures and to whom Trajan entrusted the planning of his Forum] and inaugurated in 113 AD. During the Middle Ages the complex was transformed by adding floor levels, still visible today, and defensive elements such as the Torre delle Milizie, the "militia tower" built in 1200. A convent, which was later built in this area, was demolished at the beginning of the twentieth century to restore Trajan's Markets to the city of Rome. (Nikon Coolpix P510)

This lane, just 15 minutes walk from my home, enters the centre of Terque in La Alpujarra Almeriense, Almeria, Andalucia, Spain. It is one of my favourite views of the village with the church, palm trees and, on the right, Casa de los Caballitos, one of the finest of the grand houses at the bottom of the village. The oranges this time of year add colour to the foreground.

La Paz is the capital city of the La Paz Department of Honduras. The town was founded in 1792 and has an estimated population of 46,000 people. It is 750 m (2460 feet) above sea level on the Comayagua River in an area that has mountainous terrain with thick jungle cover. The town dates back to 1750 when two Spanish colonies existed in the area. it's pure heaven for an artist to paint those honey-colored old buildings in medieval Italian town Orvieto. View is perfect, and air is clean and crisp, sending music of bells from nearby cathedrals.

A mysterious passage of light and shadow, thick solid stone, a greenish tint, gold tarnished perhaps. A cloister for gowned advocates perhaps, a place for ghostly footsteps by night, perhaps the very souls of the hanged and the damned in the heart of Edinburgh’s old town, or perhaps a reminder of a time when Scotland’s capital was the Athens of the north. I was fascinated by the neat shapes of light. I wanted to capture the moment. A lovely souvenir of Scotland. A great gift.
