The amazing Sacre Cour in Paris, France. Canon 5D MkIII. The Sacré-Cœur Basilica was designed by Paul Abadie. Construction began in 1875 and was finished in 1914. The Church of St Mary, East Quantoxhead, May 2021 The Grade 2 listed, Anglican church of St Mary, in the village of East Quantoxhead (Somerset, England) was built in the 14th century on the site of an earlier church building. The church is adjacent to the Court House, home to the lords of the manor. Restoration work took place in the 17th and 19th centuries. Date: 26th May 2021.

A view of some of the amazing rock formations in the National Park at Goreme in Cappadocia, Turkey. These natural pinnacles of volcanic rock have been shaped by erosion alone. Among these are carved stone dwellings and tunnels which were created many centuries ago - as a means of escape from marauding invaders. Also carved into the rock are ancient churches complete with frescoes.

Wimborne Minster, August 2020 One of the finest churches in Southern England, Wimborne Minster is the parish church of Wimborne (Dorset, England). The Minster is a former monastery and Benedictine nunnery, and dates from the 8th century AD. King Ethelred of Wessex was also buried here in 871 AD. A grade 1 listed building, the central tower and nave were founded in Saxon times, but the surviving building is predominantly Norman in design and construction. Other notable features of the minster are its chained library, astronomical clock, and sun dial. Date: 12th August 2020.

Chartres Cathedral, also called Notre-Dame d’Chartres or the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, Gothic cathedral located in the town of Chartres, northwestern France. Generally ranked as one of the three chief examples of Gothic French architecture (along with Amiens Cathedral and Reims Cathedral), it is noted not only for its architectural innovations but also for its numerous sculptures and its much-celebrated stained glass. St Michael's, Mere Number of views as of 10th March 2017 = 310. Mere is a small town in Wiltshire, close to the borders of Somerset and Dorset. Viewed from the summit of Castle Hill looking south towards Shaftesbury, the 15th century parish church of St Michael the Archangel dominates the landscape. Castle Hill was the site of a relatively large castle, built in the mid-13th century by the lord of the manor, Richard, Earl of Cornwall. The castle fell into disrepair in the 15th century and its stone is said to have been used to build local houses. Hope you like the view, thanks for looking! Date: 25th October 2009.

Dore Abbey Dore Abbey (in the 'Golden Valley', Herefordshire, England) was founded in 1147 by Cistercian monks from Morimond, France. Work on the present buildings, which are in the Early English style, commenced in 1175 and the abbey was consecrated in 1280. For the next 250 years, the abbey's main income came from the breeding of sheep for high quality wool, which was sold in Italy. The abbey was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1537 and the buildings were sold to a gentleman by the name of John Scudamore, who dismantled all the monastic buildings including the nave and roof, and sold the stone. Malmesbury Abbey Malmesbury Abbey, in the English county of Wiltshire, was founded in AD 675 by an Irishman named Maildubh, and the town of Malmesbury was once one of the most important in the country. The building you see today is the third abbey on this site and originates from the 12th century. It once had a spire 23 feet taller than that of Salisbury Cathedral, but unfortunately it collapsed in the late 1400s or earlier 1500s. The Abbey is the burial place of Athelstan, who is widely acknowledged as being the first King of England. Date: 1st June 2017.

St Andrew's Church, East Lulworth The Parish Church of St Andrew's, in the Isle of Purbeck village of East Lulworth (Dorset, England) dates from the 15th century, but whilst the Tower is original, much of the church was rebuilt in the 1860s. The Church adjoins Castle Park, part of the Lulworth (or Weld) Estate, which also features a 17th century castle (partly destroyed by fire in 1929) and a Roman Catholic chapel, built in 1786. Part of the Lulworth Estate is a Ministry of Defence firing range and a wildlife conversation area. Unlike its neighbour West Lulworth, the pace of life in East Lulworth seems more relaxed and tranquil (except when the military are firing of course). Date: 7th May 2017.

I did a little trip to the Southern Highlands of New South Wales (Australia) & discovered all these amazing old buildings & country churches in Bowral & Berrima. This is the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Berrima. Designed by Edmund Blacket in a simple Gothic Revival Style, the church is built from stone quarried directly behind it. The stained glass windows came from a church in Cornwall in England and are thought to date to the 15th Century. It was consecrated in 1849. The interior is especially fine with excellent stained flass, wooden fittings, and old brass oil lamps converted to electricity. *Feature* Canon DSLR, Aug 2016.
