When the type specimen for the Darwin’s Star Orchid was collected, Darwin predicted the presence of a hawk moth with a proboscus long enough to reach the end of the nectar tube…the Darwin’s hawk moth. This drawing is about specificity of function, how, when you’re weird, it implies a particular strategy. As a 12 year old with mad ADHD (&EDS), I jumped 23ft out of a tree onto a hillside. Why? Trying to look cool I’m sure, but I don’t think anyone would have thought it was cool even if I made it. I broke the end off my tibia. It should have been a surgical fix, but maybe I was too young. It healed badly partially because I ran around on it chasing lizards. Ignoring pain has always been a strength of mine.
