Caterpillar

This fuzzy yellow caterpillar is a Banded Tussock Moth caterpillar. They are very cute and charming, and live in North America. They are covered with fluffy yellow fur, and have long black and white tufts that stick out around each end.

I saw one of these when I was visiting Ketchikan, Alaska

A Woolly Bear! The Woolly Bear caterpillar is a cute fuzzy caterpillar, that later turns into the Isabella Tiger Moth. They live in the United States and Canada, and are one of the most beloved caterpillars there. Everyone can remember being a kid and how fun it was to see a Woolly Bear crawling on the porch or in the yard. These furry guys will roll into a ball if you touch them. In American and Canadian folklore, it's said that you can predict what the coming winter will be like by looking at a Woolly Bear. If the red band in the middle is bigger, then the winter will be mild. If the red band is narrower, then the winter will be harsh and cold. Woolly Bear festivals are common in America in the fall. The Io Moth is a very cool moth that lives in North America. It’s yellow with purplish markings, and the caterpillar form is green with poisonous antlers and brambles all over it. Even just brushing the spikes on the caterpillar can cause serious pain, like fire. The name “Io” is a character from Greek mythology who is associated with moons, and it’s also the name of a large moon of Jupiter.
