Description: The Ministry of Truth (Newspeak: Minitrue) is the ministry of propaganda. As with the other ministries in the novel, the name Ministry of Truth is a misnomer because in reality it serves the opposite: it is responsible for any necessary falsification of historical events. However, like the other ministries, the name is also apt because it decides what "truth" is in Oceania. As well as administering "truth", the ministry spreads a new language amongst the populace called Newspeak, in which, for example, "truth" is understood to mean statements like 2 + 2 = 5 when the situation warrants. In keeping with the concept of doublethink, the ministry is thus aptly named in that it creates/manufactures "truth" in the Newspeak sense of the word.
Description: Nineteen Eighty-Four is a rare work that grows more haunting as its futuristic purgatory becomes more real. Published in 1949, the book offers political satirist George Orwell's nightmarish vision of a totalitarian, bureaucratic world and one poor stiff's attempt to find individuality. The brilliance of the novel is Orwell's prescience of modern life—the ubiquity of television, the distortion of the language—and his ability to construct such a thorough version of hell. Required reading for students since it was published, it ranks among the most terrifying novels ever written.

Description: The phrase ''Big Brother is watching you,'' which appears several times in the Nineteen Eighty-Four novel, has become a common shorthand for government surveillance of its people. It evokes the idea of being observed by a powerful but mysterious force over which one has no control.
Description: Step into the thought-provoking world of "War Is Peace," an artistic tribute to George Orwell's masterpiece, "1984." Through a captivating logo and poster design, this artwork serves as a poignant statement, challenging the prevailing narrative that advocates for war as a means to achieve freedom. In a society where media manipulation shapes perceptions, "War Is Peace" questions the distorted messages that perpetuate the belief that conflict is the only solution. This piece advocates for a different narrative—one that emphasizes the importance of freedom, unity, and peace over the proliferation of weapons and warfare.
