Description: “Finest Confectionery Beit-Lehem.” (Hebrew.) Circa 1935. Poster published by Beit Lehem Bakery, LTD, Tel Aviv, Israel. Designed by Shalom Aharoni. Public domain, via PPPA. The poster is a commercial advertising lithograph for the ‘Bethlehem’ confectionary, referring to a shop where sweets are made or sold. Lithography by Monzon, Jerusalem. Shalom Aharoni, born in 1908 in Rehovot, Israel, was a professional sculptor. He sculpted in stone, clay, and marble. This is Shalom Aharoni’s single recorded commercial poster. Using a variety of graphic design tools, I created a restored and enlarged reproduction of this historical Israeli poster, based on a rare photo of the original poster in an archive.
