Gylen Castle Number of views as of 18th October 2018 = 780. Gylen Castle, also known as "The Castle of Fountains" is situated on the Island of Kerrera, off the coast of Argyll, Scotland, and was built by the clan MacDougall in 1587. Gylen sits on top of a rocky promontory, facing south west, with fine views looking out over the Firth of Lorn and across to the Island of Mull. There is a small ferry which takes passengers across to the island from a spot just a couple of miles down the coast from Oban. From there it's a 3 mile walk (6 miles round trip) to Gylen. Bristol Harbour Number of views as of 19th April 2018 = 770. A view of Bristol's floating harbour taken from Prince's Wharf, looking across to the Canon's Marsh area of the city, with St Augustine's Reach to the right of shot, straddled by Pero's Bridge. The tall ship (centre) is the Kaskelot, a 3 masted barque built in Denmark in 1948. The Kaskelot has appeared in several films and TV productions and is one of the largest wooden boats still in commission. The ferry in the foreground is the 'Matilda', built in 1997 and one of the Bristol Ferry Boats fleet. Old Boots, New Shoots Number of views as of 13th August 2018 = 780. A new use for some old 'wellie' boots. A private garden in Trefin, Pembrokeshire, South West Wales, UK. Date: 5th June 2012.

Hengistbury Head, Christmas Day 2014 Number of views as of 8th April 2018 = 700. Hengistbury Head at the eastern end of Poole Bay shelters Christchurch Harbour from the prevailing westerly winds. The remains of both Stone Age and Iron Age settlements provide evidence that the Head has been inhabited on and off for over 12,500 years. In more recent times, 18th & 19th century smugglers landed their cargoes on the beach, and there’s even the remains of a Victorian quarry and port. Modern amenities include a large car park, popular cafe, and a golf course, not to mention the brightly coloured “Noddy” train, a favourite with children and adults alike. King William's Temple, Kew Gardens Number of views as of 22nd June 2017 = 750. Standing in the centre of the Mediterranean Garden at Kew (London, England), King William's temple was built for Queen Victoria in 1837 in memory of King William IV. Date: 22nd April 2011.

Foxglove (Digitalis) Number of views as of 8th July 2017 = 700. This year seems to be a good one for the common foxglove (Digitalis Purpurea) if my recent visit to Pembrokeshire in South West Wales is anything to go by. Here's one pictured at Whitesand Bay near St Davids (the smallest city in the UK). Date: 3rd June 2012.

Red Bridge, Bournemouth Gardens Number of views as of 31st July 2017 = 700. One of the red-painted footbridges which cross the Bourne stream in Bournemouth Gardens, Dorset, England. Date: 23rd November 2011.

Snow White, Bridge Red Number of views as of 18th October 2018 = 720. A wintry scene in Bournemouth Gardens (Dorset, England). This attractive footbridge crosses the Bourne stream from which the town takes its name. Date 18th January 2013.

Candie Gardens Number of views as of 5th July 2017 = 700. Candie Gardens - the beautifully laid out Victorian style gardens in Guernsey's capital, St Peter Port in the Channel Islands. Ye Olde Bell & Steelyard Number of views as of 22nd March 2016 = 700. Ye Olde Bell & Steelyard is a 16th century public house in the town of Woodbridge, Suffolk, England. The Steelyard from which the pub derives its name is basically a weighing machine which would have been housed in the wooden structure attached to the top right of the building. In the 17th century, the Steelyard would have been used to weigh carts in order to enforce the Road Traffic Act of the time, which stated that carts with loads greater than 2.5 tons had to pay a toll. Old Mill, Somerford Keynes Number of views as of 24th April 2018 = 750. The old mill on the Lower Mill Estate, Cotswold Water Park, Somerford Keynes, near Cirencester (Gloucestershire, England). Date: 14th February 2015. Click here to see another shot of the Cotswold Water Park.

When The Going Gets Tough... Number of views as of 12th December 2017 = 700.... the tough get going! Fun & games at the 2010 Great Dorset Steam Fair, Tarrant Hinton, near Blandford, Dorset, England. Four traction engines pull a low loader, carrying a railway engine. Date: 4th September 2010.

St Barnabas, Snowshill Number of views as of 13th August 2018 = 730. The church of St Barnabas in the lovely village of Snowshill, Gloucestershire, England. The church was built in 1864 from the characteristic, local, honey-coloured, Cotswold stone. The village was used as a set for the the home of Bridget's family in the year 2000 film 'Bridget Jones's Diary'. Date: 24th May 2014.

Great Court Garden, Athelhampton Number of views as of 19th June 2018 = 700. The Great Court Garden at Athelhampton, 5 miles east of Dorchester (Dorset, England) has 12 yew trees, which are carefully tended to retain their pyramid shapes. The gardens were originally planted in the 1890s by Alfred Cart de Lafontaine. The house itself is much older, dating from 1485. Date: 31st August 2014. Click here to visit my Trees collection.

Red Bridge, Heale Gardens Number of views as of 5th July 2017 = 700. This bridge crosses one of several trout-filled tributaries of the River Avon that run through Heale Gardens in the Woodford Valley, 4 miles north of the city of Salisbury (Wiltshire, England). "When visitors step into the garden at Heale House they are immediately transported into a magical and varied paradise of running streams and exuberant planting that they return to time and again to experience its many different moods throughout the seasons." Date: 22nd March 2015.

Crossing La Coupee Number of views as of 27th June 2018 = 775. La Coupee is a narrow strip of land, just 10 feet (3 metres) wide, connecting the island of Sark (in the Channel Islands) and the peninsula of Little Sark. There are no motor cars on Sark, only tractors and horse-drawn transport. Here, one of the island's horsemen negotiates the narrow causeway. This has to be done at quite a speed to give the vehicle enough momentum to get up the slope behind me. And with a sheer drop of 260 feet (80 metres) either side, there is little margin for error. One for the Road Number of views as of 30th October 2015 = 600. The Morgan is the most iconic of British sports cars. Founded in 1910 by Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan, the Morgan Motor Company has been producing hand-built motor cars at its factory in Malvern, Worcestershire, England for over a century. The sleek lines and distinctive radiator grill are the hallmarks of the brand, and in external appearance the cars have changed little in the last 50 years (why change perfection many owners would argue). On the inside however, modern engines, gearboxes and other advances continue to make the Morgan a highly sought after sports car. Expect at least a 12 month wait if you are lucky enough to be able to order one tomorrow! Date: 30th June ...

Brownsea Sundown Number of views as of 18th October 2018 = 740. As the sun was setting over Poole, got this shot of Brownsea Island from my vantage point at Evening Hill on the Sandbanks Road. Brownsea is of course the birth place of Scouting, being the location of the experimental first Scout camp run by Lord Robert Baden-Powell for 20 boys of mixed social backgrounds in August 1907. Cannon and Balls Number of views as of 13th August 2018 = 790. Rousse Tower is on the north coast of Guernsey, the second largest of the Channel Islands. The tower was one of several built in the 19th century to defend the island against possible invasion from France. Date: 28th August 2014. View my Channel Islands collection here. Lulworth Castle Number of views as of 8th April 2018 = 700. Lulworth Castle (East Lulworth, Dorset, England) was built in the early 17th century as a hunting lodge by Thomas Howard, 3rd Viscount Howard of Bindon. In 1641 it was purchased by Humphrey Weld as part of the Lulworth Estate for the princely sum (in those days) of £30,000, and the Estate has remained in the hands of the Weld family to this day. A serious fire in 1929 raged for 3 days and completely destroyed the interior of the Castle along with the roof, and the Castle lay in ruin for over 60 years. In the 1990s, however, thanks to funding from English Heritage, the stonework was restored, the Castle re-roofed, and the building is now open to the public on most days except for...

Kew Palace Number of views as of 19th May 2018 = 770. The third or fourth building to be named thus, the current Kew Palace (Kew Gardens, London, England) was actually built as a mansion house by a wealthy Dutch merchant in the 1660s, hence its alternative name 'The Dutch House'. It was later sold to King George III in 1781 for £20,000 as a temporary residence, whilst a new, grander palace was being built. The new palace did not live up to expectations however and was never finished. Date: 22nd April 2011.

The Corona Garden Number of views as of 6th June 2017 = 700. The Corona Garden is one of the formal gardens in the grounds of Athelhampton, a Tudor Manor House, 5 miles east of Dorchester (Dorset, England). Officianados of the BBC TV series Doctor Who may recognise this garden from the 1975 episode 'Seeds Of Doom', in which Doctor Who (Tom Baker) and his assistant Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen) flee through the gardens to escape the Krynoids, galactic weeds that settle on planets and eat the animal life! Broadway Tower at Dusk Number of views as of 4th January 2017 = 700. Broadway Tower was envisaged by well-known 18th century landscape designer Capability Brown and was designed by architect James Wyatt. Constructed in the late 1790s, the 65 foot high structure stands on top of Broadway Hill, the second highest point in the Cotswolds, high above the village of Broadway, Worcestershire. The view from the Tower is said to include 16 counties, and landscape features up to 60 miles away can be seen. Date: 31st October 2014.

Build Me Up Buttercup Number of views as of 28th May 2018 = 760. A stunning display of buttercups in a meadow near the village of Brent Knoll, near Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, England. The song 'Build Me up Buttercup' (for those of us old enough to remember it) was of course a 1968 hit for the Foundations. Date: 27th May 2015. Click here to view my Somerset collection.

Italian Garden, Compton Acres Number of views as of 17th July 2018 = 760. Another shot from a mini 'Bubble Meet' in May 2010 at Compton Acres in Poole, Dorset, England. This one features the Petrified Naked Skateboarding championships, though the competitors seem to have lost their wheels. When it comes to photography, it's well documented that the size of your equipment doesn't matter, an opinion probably shared by the chap on the left! To be fair, there had been a sharp frost earlier in the week. Laid out by T.W.Simpson in the 1920s, Compton Acres is claimed to be one of the finest privately owned gardens in Southern England. All Saints, Oxford Number of views as of 8th November 2017 = 700. In March 1700, the spire of the original All Saints church of Oxford, England (dating from 1122) collapsed, destroying most of the building. After an appeal for funds, the current building was completed in 1720. However in 1975, the church was deconsecrated and is now the library of Lincoln College. Date: 30th October 2010.

Arlington Row Number of views as of 29th July 2016 = 700. A row of weaver's cottages, in the village of Arlington, near Bibury, south Gloucestershire, England. The building was originally a 14th century sheep-house, but was converted to cottages in the 17th century. Apparently one of the most photographed scenes in the Cotswolds. Date: 21st March 2010.

Subtropical Gardens, Abbotsbury Number of views as of 7th February 2018 = 760. The subtropical gardens at Abbotsbury (between Weymouth and Bridport, West Dorset, England) were established in the 1760s by the Fox-Strangways family, the Earls of Ilchester. The estate was once their home but sadly the house burnt down in 1913. The gardens, however, continue to thrive and this year (2015) marks the 250th anniversary of their creation. Fort Hommet, Guernsey Number of views as of 25th February 2018 = 720. Fort Hommet can be found at the northern end of Vazon Bay on the west coast of Guernsey. Originally constructed during the Napoleonic Wars as one of a series of fortifications built to protect the island from invasion by France. Pecorama Gardens, Beer Number of views as of 18th October 2018 = 700. Pecorama is a popular tourist attraction which overlooks the fishing village of Beer (South East Devon, England). Loved by kids of all ages, Pecorama's main attraction is the superb Beer Heights Light Railway, which meanders its way around the attractively landscaped gardens. Other attractions include an excellent model railway exhibition, children's play areas, a crazy golf course, and you can even take refreshments on-board a luxurious Pullman railway carriage. Date: 28th August 2012.

St Mary's Church, Bibury Number of views as of 3rd June 2018 = 700. The Saxon church of St Mary's, Bibury, Gloucestershire, England. Bibury is a popular Cotswold village close to the River Coln, and many of its buildings are made from the attractive, honey-coloured Cotswold stone. Artist and craftsman William Morris called Bibury "the most beautiful village in England". It would be interesting to know whether he'd still think so today. In my opinion, much of its charm has been lost by a failure to keep vehicles away from the village centre. The church dates from AD 1130. Date: 8th April 2012.

A Fascinating Folly Number of views as of 6th May 2016 = 700. Said to have once been the tallest, non-religious building in Britain, Horton Tower (also known as Sturt's Folly) is a 5 storey, gothic, red brick structure, 140 feet tall, designed and built by Humphrey Sturt, Lord of the Manor of Horton in 1750. As well as being an architect, Sturt was also a member of parliament for Dorset. The reason for its original construction is unknown, but one theory suggests its owner planned to use the tower as an observatory, for studying the night sky. Another suggests Sturt built it as a lookout tower so that he could observe hunting in progress on the surrounding countryside. Sherborne School Coat of Arms Number of views as of 9th June 2019 = 700. The Coat of Arms above the entrance to Sherborne School (Sherborne, Dorset, England). The Coat of Arms includes the mottos of the British monarch, 'Dieu et mon droit' (God and my right) and the Order of the Garter, 'Honi soit qui mal y pense' (Shamed be he who thinks ill of it). Sherborne is an independent boys school, originally founded by St Aldhelm in the 8th century. Notable old-boys include Alan Turing, Cecil Day-Lewis, Jon Pertwee, John Le Mesurier and Chris Martin.
