Beautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena, swifter than Hermes, and stronger than Hercules, Princess Diana of Themyscira was an Amazon Warrior fighting for peace in Man's World. According to Greek Mythology, the Amazons were a tribe of entirely female warriors. It was believed that the Amazons lived in Themiscyra near the Black Sea. The Amazons were famous for being all women and for hating men. No men were allowed to live alongside the Amazons. They were an entirely female tribe. So much that they would only keep the daughters that they gave birth to. The Amazons mostly fought using spears, and bows and arrows. A helmeted Amazon was known to carry into battle her sword and a shield bearing the Trojan.

There is something very soothing about 'Still Life', and I thoroughly enjoyed creating this one. I thought the garlic would be hard to do, but the potatoes turned out to be the most difficult objects!!! (Thanks to MrsWillow, Lorenzo Castello and Mick Kupresanin for their invaluable advice after I sent them photos of the work in progress). Pastel on Mi-Teinte 'Tex' paper - approximately 45cm x 45cm Found this rather rugged track (only suitable for 4 wheel drives) during a recent visit to the Jamieson area of Victoria. There were some amazing eucalypts and wonderful scenery, but some very scary areas where the track almost disappeared at the top of very high ridges! My husband had a wonderful time, but I thought I would never see civilisation again!
