They take different forms, and have been built by cultures around the world. Cairns in the simplest form are stacked rocks with a meaning or purpose. National Theater de la Habana, Havana, Cuba Old Classic American cars lined up waiting for customers to use them as taxis from yesteryear. Whilst all the piers can be accessed by the general public, the piers were not built as seaside attractions - so called pleasure piers like Redcar, Saltburn or Withernsea, moreover serving a civil purpose, such as ship loading and protecting the harbour. I love the way the car tracks in the snow lead towards the focal point of the image, the imposing St James' Church of Louth, Lincolnshire in the UK. Shy Windermere Swan It was as if this majestic Mute Swan was aware of me taking this photograph of him and he came over all shy and coy hence the turning of the head. The mute swan is a species of swan and a member of the waterfowl family Anatidae. It is native to much of Eurasia, and the far north of Africa. Derwentwater Wooden Rowing Boat I just loved the detail on the old style rowing boats at Derwentwater, Keswick in the Cumbrian Lake District. Pink Cadillac, Havana Taxi Ride The one thing you have to do when you visit Havana is to hire a Taxi driver to take you on a tour of the city in their clapped out Chevrolet convertible 1950's car. I took this shot from within the cab while our charismatic driver gave us a guided tour of stunning Cuba. I held my camera above my head and took a bit of a chance with the outcome but the depth in this photograph is perfect as it captures the inside of the car and the detail of the buildings and other cars in the scene. This image will suit anyone that is interested in Havana or cars themselves and also the history and architecture this is abundant in this scene. The Pantheon, Paris, France The Pantheon is a building in Paris that was started to be built about 1757 by the architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot as the Church of Sainte-Geneviève to replace the older church of that name on the same spot. It was secularized during the French Revolution and dedicated to the memory of great Frenchmen, receiving the name Panthéon. Dating back to Medieval times this street is amazing day or night. The starburst from the street lights reflect on the puddles highlighted by the low point of view.
