Description: Inspired by my time in the Navy. Standing Aft Watch was a seemingly boring duty aboard ship, but standing alone at the fantail was a moment of hyper-awareness of time and space with the immense sea before you, the sky rising above, and the horizon disappearing. You simultaneously stood still, yet rushed through time, sleepy, hungry, lonely, pensive, anxious about everything in life but strangely at peace. Sometimes you numbly stood like another fixture on the ship till you heard a voice on the sound powered phones “Aft lookout! You awake! Report!!”
