John's story follows him and the Milner Racing Team crew through a series of personal and professional ups and downs, culminating in a fatal finale. Description: The 1968 Trans-Am season saw a new competitor in sedan road racing, one that in its rookie year displayed the perfect combination of brute strength, amazing speed and all out stamina. Two race-prepped Javelins were equipped to race in the over-2-liter and under-5-liter engine class which permitted a maximum of 305 cu. in. engine displacement. The Javelins had factory 290 ci V-8 engines that were bored to 304.3 cubic inches to obtain maximum performance within the displacement limit. As a result, the first official American Motors racing team proved that their Javelins could compete with the best of the best in the Trans-Am racing circuit.

Description: As early motorsport races became popular, kids began holding their own downhill races to emulate the action. With hobbled together homemade karts built from orange crates, sheet tin, wagon and baby-buggy wheels, and pretty much anything else they could get heir hands on, it was clear that these kids wanted to race. As these neighborhood races grew in popularity, the need to formalize them into became clear, as did setting up a proper track that was safer than racing down the same hilly streets cars were driving on.
