Description: “Fargo ND Theater” The Fargo theater opened in 1926, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and in March 2026 held its 100th-year celebration. This iconic venue, located in the heart of downtown Fargo, is known for its beautiful Art Deco design, which has been meticulously restored. Originally part of a vast vaudeville network, linking small towns to larger cities. Today, it hosts independent films, live concerts, comedy shows, and community events. Description: "Two Harbors Lighthouse Minnesota" One of several lighthouses we discovered while driving the North Shore Highway of Lake Superior in Minnesota. Two Harbors Light is the oldest operating lighthouse in the US state of Minnesota, overlooking Lake Superior's Agate Bay. The construction of the lighthouse began in 1891 and was completed with the light first lit on April 14, 1892. Description: On July 22, 1968, the cathedral was damaged by a fire that destroyed many of the structure's features and contents, including the rose window, vestments, 1860 bells, and parish records. Only the facade and the walls of the old church remained. In 1972, a new, smaller cathedral was built incorporating the back wall, which was directly behind where I stood to take this photograph. Description: The Big Fiddle Sydney Nova Scotia Canada by Debra Martz Information Plaque Read: "The World’s Largest Fiddle located on the Sydney waterfront next to the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion greets visitors as they arrive via cruise ship. The fiddle and bow reach a height of 60 feet!" Made of solid steel, the giant fiddle was dubbed FIDHEAL MHOR A’ CEILIDH or the “Big Fiddle of the Ceilidh”. Ceilidh is a Gaelic word which translates into "visit." The Big Fiddle, as many call it, was designed and constructed by Cyril Hearn in 2005. Description: "Tricolored Heron Preening by Water" I always enjoy walking the boardwalks on South Padre Island, especially during the quiet morning and evening hours. This Tricolored Heron was beautifully lit by the morning sun as it paused to preen along the waters edge, and even better, it was remarkably close to the boardwalk where I was walking. Photographed at the South Padre Island Birding, Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary, home to approximately one mile of boardwalks stretching across brackish wetlands where fresh and salty waters meet. Description: "Banded Reddish Egret At South Padre Island Texas" Photographed from a boardwalk near the Convention Center on March 30, 2026, and noticed that this Egret had been banded. I reported it to USGS.gov and received a certificate back from them with information on the banding. It was too young to fly when it was banded on 06/09/2021 by Dr. Michael C. Description: The Flood Memorial Monument (also known as the Flood Memorial Obelisk) is a prominent historical landmark on the banks of the Red River in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It serves as a literal, physical yardstick mapping out the region's long struggle with the Red River of the North. 1997: The highest band at the top represents the devastating "500-year flood". The river crested at an unprecedented 54.35 feet, forcing the total evacuation of over 50,000 residents across Grand Forks, ND, and East Grand Forks, MN. Description: " Peverell's Tower and Gateway" There are many gates and towers within Dover Castle. Peverell's Tower is a 13th-century structure originally built by Henry II as a defensive feature. It is located within the castle's western defenses and has historical significance, having served various purposes over the centuries. At one time it was even a prison; today it sleeps two in great comfort if you can work with the fixed schedule offered. Unfortunately, the date structure did not work for us.
