Northwest Band Socks
Description: It was at the end of 1957 when Seattle finally got its own dedicated jazz club when Pete's Poop Deck opened their doors. Having taken up residence in a former tavern in Pioneer Square on what was then known as Skid Road – named for the greased logs that were laid to shoot timber off First Hill to Seattle’s waterfront mills – Pete's Poop Deck was the place to be for enthusiasts of modern jazz. This low-fi establishment with its dim lighting and apple crate seating quickly grew in popularity and was THE place to take in some jazz music. From local musicians to national touring acts, Pete's Poop Deck was open nightly and promised "carefully calculated confusion," something they delivered on throughout the '60s.
Description: Sweet Oblivion is the sixth studio album by Screaming Trees, released on September 8, 1992. Selling in excess of 300,000 copies on the strength of the hit, 'Nearly Lost You,' it quickly became the band's best-selling record, and was the closest they ever came to achieving mainstream success. 'Nearly Lost You' benefited from an appearance on the soundtrack for Singles, the film that followed the lives of a group of early Gen X'ers in Seattle, Washington at the height of the 1990s grunge phenomenon. The soundtrack was a platinum-selling, top 10 hit record which featured many other popular Seattle bands of the era.
Description: As one of the two bookend clubs on either side of the Denny Way freeway overpass (the Off Ramp being the other) that ruled the Seattle scene during the early 1990s, when the city was discovered by the world. RKCNDY was a huge, two-level, warehouse-type space that had amazing sound and was an all around great place to catch a band most any night of the week. The closure of RKCNDY in 1999 was a hard hit to the all-ages scene, especially with Seattle's Teen Dance Ordinance still firmly in place for another three years.
Description: Before punk had a name, Tacoma was already shaking. Inspired by the untamed spirit of 1965 Pacific Northwest garage rock, this weather-beaten concert poster captures screaming vocals, savage fuzz guitars, pounding rhythms, and the raw electricity of a basement show pushed past its limits. A gritty, old-school tribute to the sound that refused to play nice.
Description: KCMU began as a student and volunteer-run 10-watt college radio station based out of the University of Washington communications building in 1972 and quickly becoming an innovative, influential cultural force in the Seattle area and beyond. Their eclectic playlists created by an all volunteer staff made it a true beacon of light in the crowded, heavily commercialized FM radio world. Still operating today, albeit under a different call sign and with slightly more commercial leanings, they're still a darling of the independent radio world with countless listeners tuning in locally and streaming from around the globe.

Description: 1000 Smiling Knuckles is the fourth studio album by Seattle grunge band Skin Yard that was released in 1991. The first single was the title track, for which a video was shot. Skin Yard was formed in January 1985, playing their first official show on June 7, 1985, opening for the U-Men. While Skin Yard may not have received the kind of national recognition many of their contemporaries did, their Pacific Northwest following was huge, and are considered one of the heaviest grunge bands of all time.
