Description: Frankenmuth Brewery is a brewery and restaurant in Frankenmuth, Michigan. It is one of the oldest breweries in Michigan.The business closed in 2003 and reopened in 2009. Martin Heubisch and Wilhelm Knaust built a brewery in 1862. John G. Geyer bought it in 1874 and renamed it Geyer Bros. Brewing Co. In 1987 it was purchased out of bankruptcy for $365,000 by Ervin Industries and Ferdinand M. Schumacher, who renamed the business Frankenmuth Brewery, Inc. Randall E. Heine bought majority ownership from Ervin Industries in 1990. Heine sold as many as 13,000 barrels of beer in 25 states before an F3 tornado on June 21, 1996, tore through "Little Bavaria", downtown Frankenmuth.
Description: Grolsch Brewery, known simply as Grolsch, is a Dutch brewery founded in 1615 by Willem Neerfeldt in Groenlo. In 1895 the de Groen family bought the brewery. They had started their own brewery in Enschede in the early 19th century. It held a significant stake until November 2007. Today the main brewery is located in Enschede.
Description: The Falstaff Brewing Corporation was a major American brewery located in St. Louis, Missouri. With roots in the 1838 Lemp Brewery of St. Louis, the company was renamed after the Shakespearean character Sir John Falstaff in 1903. Production peaked in 1965 with 7,010,218 barrels brewed, and then dropped 70% in the next 10 years. While its smaller labels linger on today, its main label Falstaff Beer went out of production in 2005. The rights to the brand are currently owned by Pabst Brewing Company.

Description: The Baer & Stegmaier Brewery was opened in 1857 on South Canal Street by a partnership between Charles Stegmaier and his father-in-law, George Baer. It was later called the C. Stegmaier & Son brewery, in 1863 before finaly becoming Stegmaier Brewing Company in 1897. Between 1910 and 1913 Stegmaier won eight gold medals at expositions in Paris, Brussels and Rome. After prohibition it became one of the largest independent breweries in North America, reaching an output of a half million barrels in 1940. Using a 60-truck fleet and rail services, the distribution areas eventually covered the East Coast from Maine to Florida - a considerable evolution from the days of 1857 when Charles Stegmaier personally delivered each barrel.
Description: The Northern Brewing Company was founded in 1890 by Louis Rueping and John A. Klinkert as the KIinkert Brewing Company. Both Klinkert and Rueping had worked many years in the brewing business before setting up this brewery in West Superior, Wisconsin. After Klinkert's partnership ended in 1898, Louis Rueping renamed the original brewery the L. Rueping Company. In the following months, he reorganized and incorporated the Northern Brewing Company. Northern eventually grew to become one of Superior's most prosperous industries. At one time, Northern beer outsold the combined sales of all other brands in the city.
Description: Drewrys Brewing Company is an American brewery located in McHenry, Illinois founded in 1877. Besides its Canadian connection (sometimes sporting a picture of a Mountie on cans or labels), the main Drewrys claims to fame were that the beer was "more flavor; less filling; more fun!", years before the popularity of light beers, and also (with the advent of lighter aluminum cans) that a can of Drewrys would float in water, rather than sinking to the bottom of a bucket or tub.
Description: Columbia Brewing Co. opened in 1933 and closed in 1968 it was open for 35 years. Items from breweries of this age tend to be more common and less valuable than some breweries. Early items can still be valuable as can rarer types of items. This listing was active during Prohibition which makes it an oddity. Some breweries were able to stay in business by producing "near-beer" which was very low alcohol, some switched over to bottling sodas or other beverages, some became Ice-houses or other related businesses. Columbia Brewing Co. was located in Shenandoah, PA, which only had 3 breweries, so there are not many that that were producing breweriana items. There are number of breweries in Hannover, e.g. Gilde brewery was founded about 300 years earlier. Herrenhäuser introduced the first kosher pilsener beer to the European market called Herrenhäuser Kosher. The company was originally established under the name Brauerei Wölfler & Wedekind Herrenhausen.

Description: The Christian Heurich Brewing Company was a Washington, D.C., brewery founded in 1872 and incorporated by Christian Heurich in 1890. First located near Dupont Circle on 20th Street NW, it expanded to a much larger site in Foggy Bottom in 1895 after a major fire. The new brewery was located along the Potomac River at 26th Street and D Street NW, where the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts now stands. The Heurich brewery was the largest in Washington's history, capable of producing 500,000 barrels of beer a year and 250 tons of ice daily.

Description: This ex-brewery site of the Lederer Brewery (trade mark being a Crocodile) is now a large beer garden with restaurant bars and function rooms. Whilst it gives the impression that Lederer is still brewing its own beers, I am led to understand their beers are now brewed at the Tucher brewery in Furth, but these premises keep up the name and tradition. Lederer beers can also be tried at various bars in Nuremberg, just look for the Crocodile sign hanging outside a bar.
Description: Some of the oak casks at Samuel Smith’s date back more than a century with the individual oak staves being replaced by the Old Brewery coopers over the years. Gradually the casks soak in more & more of the character of the ale fermented in stone Yorkshire squares. Yorkshire Stingo is matured in these well-used oak casks in the brewery’s cellars deriving fruit, raisin, treacle toffee, Christmas pudding and slight oaky flavours, before being further naturally conditioned in bottle.
Description: The Brasserie des Géants was started up in 1997 by two engineers, Pierre and Vinciane Delcoigne, at the Castel d’Irchonwelz, which dates from the twelfth century. The first brew was put on sale in 2000. The Brasserie Ellezelloise was founded by Philippe Gérard in 1993 and produces the Quintine and Hercule product range. The brewhouse here is capable of producing two to three brews of 1,500 litres per day. Created in 2006 from the merger between the Brasserie des Géants and the Brasserie Ellezelloise, the Brasserie des Légendes was inspired by the rich folklore of our region: the Ducasse d’Ath parade with its procession of giant puppets and the Witches’ Sabbath festival in Ellezelles.

The brewery , which was founded here by Count Jan Josef Sezima of Vrtba in 1694 , was bought from the aristocratic owners in 1857 by a burgher Antonín Procházka. In 1897, the brewery was purchased by the Prague Credit Bank and the Joint-Stock Brewery was established in Nusle near Prague .
Description: In 1975, the Campaign for Real Ale invented the modern beer festival when it staged a five-day event with more than 50 beers attended by 40,000 thirsty members. Forty years on, we asked those who were there – volunteers, Campaign leaders and drinkers – to share their memories. Chris Bruton (organiser): A Cambridge branch member suggested a beer festival in the Corn Exchange at an early meeting in 1974. The main credit should go to the late Alan Hill – then a Personnel Manager at Pye in Cambridge. The festival made a significant profit, and the donation to central funds was essential to keep the Campaign afloat during a difficult period.

Description: The Hotel Fletzinger can look back on a long history. Originally, there was a brewery in the building area, which was founded in 1693 by an ancestor of Maximilian Fletzinger (also Flötzinger). He in turn probably stemmed from Georg Flötzinger’s family from Ramerberg, who gave the Rosenheim brewery – which still exists today – its name. In 1851, the Fletzinger brewery was one of 15 breweries in Wasserburg; by 1914, there were only 7 in total. It produced the beer varieties “Export hell und dunkel” and the “Fletzinger Pils”.
Description: Sergeant & Co took over the Bridge St. brewery from Saville. Antonie Middlemoor Sergeant came to Brigg from nearby Melton Ross in 1834 or 35. He was born in Camberwell and started the business in partnership with his brother, Edward. In 1840 the dwelling house and brewery, Bridge St. was to let by Mr A Sergeant; the brewery was the only one in town and Sergeant continued to run it. In 1851 A M. Sergeant was aged 42 and employed 5 men and 1 boy. A year later he erected extensive brewery buildings on the west side of the old river behind the White Hart. The water came from springs at Castlethorpe, to the west of Brigg, a mile from the river. Ale cost from 10d to 1s 6d, porter from 1s to 1s 6d and bitter 1s 4d per gallon.
