“We all change when you think about it. We're all different all through our lives. And that's okay, that's good. You've got to keeping moving. As long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me.” I came up with this idea shortly before the premiere of the Series 8 and the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi. I wanted to honor all the regenerations in one painting. It's one of my largest - 48" x 24". The concept of a regenerating lead character is what makes Doctor Who so special. One of the running themes in Doctor Who is the tendency to write in little moments that represent the actors' real personality. With David Tennant, they gave him an episode in Scotland so that he could speak with his real accent. With Matt Smith, they gave him a scene where he schooled everyone in a game of soccer, as Smith was nearly a professional footballer. Peter Capaldi used to play guitar and sing in a punk band back in the late 70s or early 80s. Hence, this awesome scene.

Etymology: < TARDIS (acronym < Time And Relative Dimension (or Dimensions) In Space), the name in the science-fiction BBC television series Doctor Who (first broadcast in 1963) of a time machine outwardly resembling a police telephone box, yet inwardly much larger.

Rory Williams was such an awkward character at the beginning of Series 5, but by the end, I wanted to be him, the Last Centurion - the man willing to defend his love whatever the cost, even if it meant guarding her living tomb for 2,000 years.

A while back I realized that I only had a few paintings from the 1st series with the 9th Doctor, and I really do like that series a lot...it just hasn't inspired as many paintings. So I decided to remedy that. This wasn't taken from any scene, except the Tardis with Bad Wolf spray painted on the side. I started with the idea of a rose in the foreground and the Bad Wolf Tardis in the background. Everything else sort of sprang up from that. The "Little Red Riding Hood trotting through the forest" vibe wasn't intentional. In fact, it didn't occur to me until I uploaded this photo.

Tardis Pop Art - Enjoy your favorite time machine from a more artistic perspective with a pop art style.

There's this short moment at the end of the two-part story Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead. Both Donna and the Doctor have experienced deep loss. Donna lost her stuttering husband she met while in the fake reality of the library planet's hard drive. And the Doctor lost River Song, a stranger who knew his name and clearly had a heavy and major impact on his future. Donna asks the Doctor if he's alright. He responds with "I'm always alright." And Donna asks if that's time lord code for "really not alright." The Doctor asks why and Donna says in a somber tone, "Because I'm alright too." The dialogue is striking and heavy, because the implication of their shared pain is tangible in their faces even though they are saying ...
