Seen here as a digital coloured pencil drawing is Tobermory, capital of the Isle of Mull in Scotland's Inner Hebrides, This colourful and picturesque town is on the east coast of Mishnish, the most northerly part of the island close to the entrance to the Sound of Mull. It began life as a fishing port in 1788 and was apparently based on designs by the noted engineer Thomas Telford. The quayside is busy with fishing and leisure boats and is also home to the Tobermory Distillery.

The Museum of Comtemporary Arts at Circular Quay lit up as part of the Vivid Sydney Music & Light Festival, 2012. The Opera House was less spectacular than in past years but the MCA had a brilliant dynamic display of colours, patterns & graphics & shared the bill with Customs House as the highlight for me of this years festival. If only I had found out about the Amon Tobin music spectacular in the Concert Hall before it had sold out !!! This very elegant per is on the South Wales coast at Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan. It dates from Victorian times having opened in 1898, visitors enjoying steamer trips leaving from the pierhead. The 750 foot long pier has had its share of collisions by ships! In 1947 a Canadian cargo ship caused considerable damage as did a pleasure steamer in 1966 (in dense fog this time!). Following restoration in 1994 and 1996 the pier reopened in 1998. In 2014 it was voted 'Pier of the Year' Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

Sometimes ghostly figures can be distracting in photos, but I thought they really worked here. To me it shows a day in the life of the Opera House. Some people were sitting down after having walked a long way, taking advantage of the fact that these seats offered a very good view. Others were posing, recording the moment in time when they got to stand in front of one of the icons of Australia. Some were taking a stroll after a dinner date at one of the many restaurants lining the Quay. In short, it is a place that is always full of life, no matter what time of day or night you happen to stop by.

A view from across the creek to the picturesque village of Bosham (pronounced 'Bozzam') in West Sussex. Seen here are the houses clustered round the harbour with the parish church of Holy Trinity in the background. The roadway round the harbour floods at each high tide - so visitors beware! The village and its church feature in the Bayeaux Tapestry which shows Harold Godwinson and his followers riding here befoe setting sail from the quay for his meeting with Duke William of Normandy in 1064.
