It is not part of the United Kingdom or the European Union, although its defence is the responsibility of the UK and it is a possession of the British Crown. Cobo Bay is in the Castel parish on the west coast of the island facing the Atlantic Ocean, though it is just 3 miles from the island's capital St Peter Port (on the east coast). Guernsey Mystery - Solved! Number of views as of 8th May 2019 = 470. One of the island of Guernsey's unusual architectural features is this structure which crosses La Route de Carteret, just inland from Cobo Bay. Despite searching the web, I was unable to find out why it was built or what it is/was used for. However, thanks to my friend pix-elation, I now know that it was built to allow children from the manor house at nearby Saumarez Park to walk to Cobo Bay without having to cross the road.
