It is not part of the United Kingdom or the European Union, although its defence is the responsibility of the UK and it is a possession of the British Crown. Cobo Bay is in the Castel parish on the west coast of the island facing the Atlantic Ocean, though it is just 3 miles from the island's capital St Peter Port (on the east coast). Although popular for surfing and other water sports, enthusiasts must be wary of the rocky, granite outcrops on this stretch of the coast, which date from 570 million years ago. Guernsey Mystery - Solved! Number of views as of 8th May 2019 = 470. One of the island of Guernsey's unusual architectural features is this structure which crosses La Route de Carteret, just inland from Cobo Bay. Despite searching the web, I was unable to find out why it was built or what it is/was used for. However, thanks to my friend pix-elation, I now know that it was built to allow children from the manor house at nearby Saumarez Park to walk to Cobo Bay without having to cross the road. The Michigan Stags were a professional ice hockey team based in Detroit, Michigan that played a portion of the 1974–75 season in the World Hockey Association. On January 18, 1975, the franchise was moved to Baltimore, Maryland where it was known as the Baltimore Blades. The Stags originated as the Los Angeles Sharks, one of the WHA's original twelve teams. The Stags played at Cobo Arena.
