A digital graphic sketch from my original photograph of the De La Warr Pavilion, captured from the promenade at Bexhill-on-Sea on the East Sussex coast. This beautiful Art Deco Building dates from 1935 and is named after the 9th Earl De La Warr, Mayor of Bexhill and the instigator of a competition to design this public building. In 1986 it was designated a Grade 1 listed building status ensuring its preservation as an iconic structure of the period.

The tranquil South Harbour at Blyth in Northumberland houses the prestigious Royal Northumberland Yacht Club. This captivating image, captured on a chilly January morning, showcases the picturesque home yacht and marina. The peaceful waters provide a perfect reflection of the majestic yachts and fishing boats, while the stunning blue sky with fluffy clouds adds to the captivating scene. The marina, with its intricate rigging, towering masts and impressive ships, is a hub of activity, showcasing the working harbour of Blyth.

This image was shot on the beach at Cambois in Northumberland on the North East coast of England on a windy February morning and under a threatening sky looking south towards the wind turbines and silos at the mouth of the River Blyth over the rough water of the North Sea. The image has been given a plastic wrap filter for something just a little bit different.

This image of Alnmouth from the River Aln was taken on a bright spring morning just before the heavens opened. The sky was darkening but there was still enough morning sunshine to illuminate the large Victorian houses overlooking the beach. This image is also available in colour

I survived the NYC Earthquake - April 5th, 2024

This image was taken on a blustery day in November with the North Sea crashing into Tynemouth Pier with lots of seagulls in the air and converted to black and white for dramatic effect. The pier protects the north bank of the River Tyne as it flows into the North Sea on the North East coast of England.

Rocky Island in Seaton Sluice, Northumberland was formed when a channel was cut between the small tidal harbour and the North Sea in the eighteenth century. The buildings on the island are whitewashed and are viewed here over a meadow from Collywell Bay before being converted to monochrome to emphasise the drama in the sky.

St Mary's Lighthouse and island lie north of the River Tyne and Whitley Bay on the North Sea coast of England. The lighthouse is no longer in operation and is now a museum and tourist attraction which is only accessible at low tide when the causeway is not under water. The image was taken at High Tide on a very cold December morning shortly after sunrise with a small flock of sanderlings feeding at the water's edge on a small bit of exposed sand.

The Flying Dutchman is a two masted schooner built in 1903 and is used these days mostly for cruises. The vessel was photographed leaving the Port of Blyth on the North East coast of England on a calm October morning just after sunrise, heading into the North Sea. The image has been given a smudged effect and soft focus to give an dreamy impression.

Seaton Sluice harbour in Northumberland is a tidal harbour for small craft on the North East coast of England. This image was shot at low tide on a calm, sunny morning in October looking north over Rocky Island and towards the four mile stretch of beach towards Blyth

Sunset on the River Blyth in Northumberland on the North East coast of England. There is still some colour in the evening sky, but the lights are showing on the boats, rigs and silos on the river. This image is also available in colour.

The bows of a couple of fishing boats at Hastings on the East Sussex coast. Fishing boats have been beached on this area of shingle known as The Stade, an Anglo-Saxon word for landing place, for over a thousand years and this is now the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Britain. This is a digital art image developed from my original photograph.
