It was at the Battle of Copenhagen in the year 1801, that Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson was ordered to retreat from the battle. He held his telescope to the eye patch of his blinded eye, looking for the flagship's order, as he said, "I see no ships" deliberately disobeying his orders to retreat. Nelson turned to his flag-captain and said, ‘Foley, you know that I have lost an eye, and have a right to be blind sometimes’.

The original Lady Washington was built in the 1750's in Massachusetts. This is a full scale replica of the brigantine and was launched in 1989. You may have seen her in Pirates of the Carribean as HMS Interceptor. Whilst she has sailed Transatlantic, she is seen here, from the Municipal Pier, on a millpond like San Francisco Bay, California.
