The Pedestal is an art print I created using a fauvism oil technique. This technique focuses on abstract brush strokes and bold surreal colors creating a very contemporary look. The setting is the Meyer May house in the Heritage Hill District of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The architectural design was done by Frank Lloyd Wright. I love the geometric pattern he created in the design of the home. The Equestrian Statue of King Henri IV is a bronze statue located on the Ile de la Cite close to Pont Neuf (one of the most famous and the oldest bridge in Paris, named by King Henri IV himself as "New Bridge" as it was the very first one constructed without houses). This statue is actually a replica of the original dating fback rom the 1600s, however, this particular statue was put in place in 1818 and is one of the many monuments in Paris that you can discover today. One of the things you can see in front of Notre Dame Cathedral is the bronze equestrian statue - Charlemagne et ses Leudes (Charlemagne and his guards), which was created by brothers Louis and Charles Rochet in 1878. This bronze statue of Charlemagne shows the King of the Franks on horseback. He is holding a lance or staff while being guided by two leudes, which are believed to be the figures of Oliver and Roland. Charlemagne holds an important place in European history, being the first Emperor of Western Europe around 800AD, known at that time as the Carolingian Empire. The Swans

The Place de la Concorde is one of the major public squares in Paris, France, and the largest square in the French capital. It is located at the eastern end of the Champs-Élysées. For more info on it, please refer to my previous images with the title "Place De La Concorde". At each corner of the octagonal square there stands a statue representing a French town. This specific one shown here represents the Town of Strasbourg (located at the northeast corner of the square on the Rue de Rivoli side. It was designed by James Pradier, who took his model to be Juliette Drouet, who was his mistress before becoming Victor Hugo's . The Christ at El Picacho is a monument which stands on the hill of El Picacho in the north area of Tegucigalpa (capital of Honduras). It is a famous landmark for anyone who's ever visited the city of Tegucigalpa and is classified as one of the 30 wonders of Honduras. The Mountain where the statue stands looks south over the city's central district (cities of Tegucigalpa and Comayaguela). At the top, besides the Christ statue, there is a small zoo, a replicated Mayan temple, and the United Nations Park. I have seen these pediment statues all over Europe, weathered by centuries and changed by the light of day until you can longer be certain if it is angel or devil, welcome or warning. I wanted to capture all the complications of light and tried to do so by relying on pure impressionism painting techniques....blobs of color only, no lines.
