A tribute to all who have come to New Zealand shores, this statue depicts Kupe Raiatea the explorer, his wife Hine Te Aparangi and Pekahourangi the Tohunga as they sight Aotearoa (New Zealand) from their Canoe Matahourua. This Mure Group statue was created in plaster of Paris by William Trethewey and featured at the 1940 NZ Centennial Exhibition at Rongotai. In 1999 the statue was cast in bronze as a Millenium Project and unveiled on 4 March 2000. Spring at the Pond is an art print I created using a fauvism oil technique. This technique uses abstract brush strokes and surreal colors creating a contemporary and modern look. This particular art print depicts people out enjoying a spring day in the park. The setting is Boston Public Gardens located next to Boston Common. The gardens are known for their many flower gardens along with the infamous swan paddle boats. Dotted around the interior pond on any given warm day are lots of people out enjoying the weather and each other. Aurora by Geoff Bartlett (2005) Street "sculpture" in Docklands Melbourne (State capital of) Victoria, Australia Named after the Roman goddess of the dawn, Aurora’s inverted cargo net makes a symbolic connection to Docklands’ history as Victoria’s most important port. The stainless steel surface is highly reflective and, at night, is lit from within to create a glowing orb floating above the street.
