Description: The Mars Volta is an American progressive rock band formed in El Paso, Texas, in 2001 by guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala after their previous group, At the Drive-In, broke up. They blend progressive rock, jazz fusion, punk, and Latin rhythms into intense, complex songs. Their acclaimed work includes concept albums like De-Loused in the Comatorium (2003) and Frances the Mute (2005). They won a Grammy Award in 2009 for Best Hard Rock Performance for their song "Wax Simulacra."
Description: The 'Zavala' or 'De Zavala' flag, is a flag purported to be designed by Lorenzo De Zavala in March 1836 during the drafting of the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico. In reality, there are no surviving examples of the original flag, so we cannot say for certian that it looked like this.
