The movie was chock-full of futuristic military vehicles, weaponry, and enough stunts and explosions to keep any 12-year-old engaged, but sadly, that was about the extent of its reach. Intended to be a huge summer blockbuster, the film was poorly received by critics, bombed at the box office and was nominated for three Raspberries, including Worst Picture.

From excessive violence and over the top explosions to unlimited ammunition and high body counts, most everything that Rambo is known for nowadays is completely absent in the original film.
