Edmunds Pillows

Don Edmunds was an American racecar driver who had his first start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1957. He won the 1957 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year after finishing nineteenth, though Edmunds' Indy career ended with a serious practice accident at the Speedway the following year. In 1963, he founded Autoresearch in Anaheim, California, which specialized in building midget cars and sprint cars. Edmunds created the blueprints and did most of the fabrication work on the original Bill Thomas Cheetah prototype sports car racer. His chassis won several National Midget Championships in the late '60s and early '70s. Additionally, Edmunds was a prolific constructor of Formula Super Vee cars well into the '80s.

Edmunds Tower situated in The High, Harlow, Essex. Harlow is mostly a new town in the district of west Essex, UK. It borders Hertfordshire and occupies a large area of land on the left bank of the upper Stort Valley. Old Harlow is a village founded in the early medieval period, mostly comprising Victorian buildings along it’s high street. The new town was built after World War ll to ease overcrowding in London due to the devastation caused by The Blitz. It was a Phase 1 new town along with Basildon, Stevenage and Hemel Hempstead after the New Towns Act of 1946. The master plan for Harlow was drawn up in 1947 by Sir Frederick Gibberd. This is a watercolour and ink painting I created of the beautiful Angel Hill, in Bury St.Edmunds, England. It is a lovely view with a nostalgic feel. At the top of the hill sits the splendid Angel Hotel. The iconic hotel is a grade II listed building. It and was also a favourite retreat of Charles Dickens. He visited it several times and mentioned The Angel in his novel "Pickwick Papers".

Edmund was king of East Anglia during the 9th century, and put to death by the Vikings. His head was returned to his body by a faithful wolf, who protected his body until it could be buried. I took this picture of his statue outside the Cathedral at Bury St Edmunds. Saint Edmund is now the patron saint of wolves, pandemics, and victims of torture.
