Thyreus are cleptoparasites - the ultimate thrifty bees - the mummas can't be bothered slaving away gathering nectar and pollen for their progeny so they lay their eggs in the nests of a host (Amegilla bees), and when their baby hatches out it kills the host baby bee and eats its food

Description: Megachile lucifer is a new species of native bee described by Dr Kit Prendergast aka Bee Babette. It is named for its devilish horns, because Kit loves the Netflix show Lucifer, and because it means light bringer in Latin, and she hopes this discovery brings to light the issues native bees face.
