Newspaper editor Dan Burton was the masked detective known as the Wasp. He devoted his life to fighting crime. He had no powers, instead relying on his wits and fighting skills to bring in criminals, and he made a buzzing sound before he attacked.
Eel O’Brian was a crook until he was shot by a security guard during a heist and falls into a vat of acid. He manages to stumble his way into a monks’ mountain retreat. The monks heal O'Brian, both in body and mind. When he finishes recuperating, Eel discovers he can stretch and form his body into almost anything. He decides to use his new super powers to fight crime.

Lars was an athletic man skilled in many edged weapons and firearms. Like other Martians, he had strong lungs that allowed him to survive without oxygen for several minutes.

Young Billy Wood received a jetpack Rocket Man and Rocket Girl sent to him. Using his jetpack to fly and fight crime as Rocket Boy, Billy also used it to search for his missing father. After escaping being kidnapped and fighting off natives, Rocket Boy discovered his father was being held captive by Ed Stevens, who wanted to know the location of a diamond mine. When Rocket Boy came to his father's rescue, Stevens released a lion to kill them. Billy tied up the lion and saved his father's life.
Jethro Dumont, a rich resident of New York City, spent ten years in Tibet studying to be a lama and learning many mystical secrets in the process. He returned to the United States in order to spread the Buddhist teachings, but after witnessing a murder he realized he could be of more help by fighting evil and crime.
He receives his Green Lama powers by reciting the mantra "om mani padme hum." Dumont is also endowed with superhuman abilities acquired through his scientific knowledge of radioactive salts.
