Description: Visit the Peak District and you're spoilt for choice when it comes to rolling moody vistas. Moorland, reservoirs, gritstone of the Dark Peak, huge reservoirs and tumbling waterfalls... there's so much to see when the clouds lift to show the windswept heather. Crowden Valley is one of the places I've visited most. The history of UFO sightings or 'Devil's Bonfires', spirits of lost Roman legionnaires, ancient packhorse trails. It's got it all if you're willing to look for it.
Description: A recently discovered piece of artwork found within the walls of an old Saxon roundhouse church nearby to the town of Danebury in Essex. It seemingly depicts an ancient form of precious metal gathering and the methods used to acquire them. As we now know these men would have had to give up any of the valuable materials they discovered to the land owner and their associated parties. Leaving the 'Precious Metal Gatherers' to scrape a living from the lesser valuable finds and similarly skilled occupations.

Description: DMDC Open day at the scout hut today! Come and see what we've found! (3-5pm) There's free drinks, and you can try your hand at detecting! (50p a go). Browse a range of detecting equipment and also our finds! Anything from shrapnel, a world of coins + buttons, not to mention ring pulls through the ages. All ages welcome, please form an orderly queue at the entrance.

Imagine the threat of attack that comes from crazy-mad parkour skills coupled with a poisonous stinger on a dexterous fifth appendage!.. Just too deadly.
Description: A true to life seasonal view from one of my hikes in the Peak District, Derbyshire. The Snake Pass weaves it's way through some of the most beautiful scenery the Peak District has to offer, you can pull over at a National Trust farm house or make your own way up to Bamford Edge to find a spot just like this one. You can't really go wrong... but bring a jacket.

Fountains of knowledge for anything ranging from 'The curse of the gold' to local World War 2 air wreckage memorabilia. If ever you need them you can find them on a Thursday night down the Two Brewers having a pint and a coke.
Description: Meet the DMDC’s most prolific team.. Andy Stone & Lance Stater. General knowledge kings and talkers of bollocks. They can tell you where to find a cheap used Kerplunk or an ancient Saxon roundhouse.. but not what the largest land-based carnivore is. You’ll find them out and about in the surrounding fields of Danebury and beyond putting the world to rights and looking for the history we’ve all forgotten.
