Description: A recently discovered piece of artwork found within the walls of an old Saxon roundhouse church nearby to the town of Danebury in Essex. It seemingly depicts an ancient form of precious metal gathering and the methods used to acquire them. As we now know these men would have had to give up any of the valuable materials they discovered to the land owner and their associated parties. Leaving the 'Precious Metal Gatherers' to scrape a living from the lesser valuable finds and similarly skilled occupations.

Description: DMDC Open day at the scout hut today! Come and see what we've found! (3-5pm) There's free drinks, and you can try your hand at detecting! (50p a go). Browse a range of detecting equipment and also our finds! Anything from shrapnel, a world of coins + buttons, not to mention ring pulls through the ages. All ages welcome, please form an orderly queue at the entrance.

The Snake Pass weaves it's way through some of the most beautiful scenery the Peak District has to offer, you can pull over at a National Trust farm house or make your own way up to Bamford Edge to find a spot just like this one. You can't really go wrong... but bring a jacket.
