I live in Suffolk, UK and there are a lot of folklore tales about a big black dog, sometimes with red eyes. In our area, we call him Shuck or Black Shuck. He haunts the country lanes at night.

An amber eyed hare sits amid the field's flora on the night of a full moon. This is a pen and ink drawing, using a dip pen with a lovely black ink on a light watercolour paper. I have then used watercolours to brighten it all up.

This is my hare in a field by a grassy knoll. I'm hoping to be able to do a set of these. The black background is hand painted in black acrylic, which I've worked into with a white pen. Hares are my animal of choice.

This was a graphic drawing that I had had in my mind for a while. It was completed in a blue watercolour paint and black acrylic ink. I liked the idea of making a kind of pattern of the branches of the trees behind the leaping hare. The only other tiny touch of colour is the orange in the eye of the hare.

This is the famous scene in the classic book 'Wuthering Heights' by Emily Bronte when Cathy's ghost comes to the window begging to be let in. This is done mainly in pen but I added in a little pencil work to make the ghost look softer and less real and the snow is done in white goache paint. I have worked it up on yellow paper.

This drawing is done on card in Windsor and Newton inks. I had previously tried to illustrate this rhyme but this drawing is a bit more dynamic. It's also a bit darker and more comic.

This is one of my hand drawn cartoons, which I made as a christmas card a few years back. It's simply line work and water colour paints. I used a red marker for the bright reds. I was coming at this idea from the angle of a turkey. Everyone seems to love christmas but there are a few who don't care much for it.

I like toads. They help gardeners by eating a lot of the pests that damage plants, like slugs for instance. They can't move terribly fast and they're pretty static. I don't know why people don't like them. This is my illustrative tribute to the humble toad.

This is a little, cosy town house in the depth of winter. I used a printing technique for the body of the house and painted in the windows in black and white acrylic. There is a little bit of pastel in the roof and the rest is hand painted in acrylics. The grey background is a water colour wash.

This is a humorous little idea I had a while ago. It's drawn onto paper and then I scanned it into a computer and put the colour on in 'paint'. (The only programme I had to do it!!!).

I love hares and I love drawing hares. This is my most recent moon gazing hare. I have drawn this by hand in dip pen and then cross hatched the drawing. I have then added a little watercolour over the pen work.

This is a drawing of a hare I've done in pen and ink on Bristol board. It's black and white but I may add a little colour later. I'm just very fond of hares and their long ears. I'm very happy when I spot them in the fields near where I live.

This is a lino cut which I hand printed just recently. I'm currently liking drawing hares and was experimenting with mark making.

This is the Aesop's Fable 'The Peacock and the Crane' encapsulated in one drawing. The peacock had been admiring himself asked the crane how he could live with looking so drab. The crane reminded the peacock that although his tail was a fabulous sight, it also caused him great problems in flight, whereas the crane could soar above countries and cities and the peacock could not. I designed this in the shape of a church window and with an old English type face which can be found in churches to give a nod to the morality and wisdom of the Aesop's tales.

There was an old woman, who lived in a shoe, She had so many children, she didn't know what to do. This is a Windsor and Newton ink drawing on card. It's another of my nursery rhyme illustrations.

This is an acrylic painting on canvas. It's of that slow, quiet dusk time in a Norfolk landscape. This tree was in a field that was replaced by a new housing complex.
