Take care of rips, rocks, locals and sharks.

The beach was named by a group of local surfers one summer day circa 1961 as "Toes Over Beach," "Toes Beach" or just "Toes”, a name derived from the "toes over," "toes over the nose" or the Hang Ten surfing maneuver. Description: Bribie Island is a good wave for beginners as it has small rolling waves and it has shelter from southerly winds by Moreton Island. The waves usually are small and don't have much power. The best tide is high tide and the wind is best from the west, southwest. The best time of the year is March to May. The best swell is 2 foot - 4 foot.

Positioned at the mouth of the slough channel with tidal flows in winter, Sands Beach features sand and rock bottoms. Most days, it provides something to ride, though it can get busy when a good swell rolls in. Located at Coal Oil Point, the beach is surrounded by tide pools and trails, creating a diverse environment for surfers and nature enthusiasts alike. Description: Surf Beach, near Lompoc in Santa Barbara County, has waves suitable for beginners - except for those sharks. This beach break features both right and left waves over a sandy bottom. Despite its fairly good waves, Surf Beach has witnessed two fatal shark attacks in the last three years. The area surrounding Surf Beach boasts beautiful dunes, coastal flora, and abundant wildlife. Accessible from the Amtrak parking area, the beach is part of Vandenberg State Marine Reserve. The areas north and south are closed seasonally to protect Snowy Plover bird nesting spots.
