Description: Rodolfo Biagi (1906-1969) was an Argentine Tango musician who started his musical career by playing background music for silent movies, and this was where he was first discovered by a tango band leader.

Description: I found a logo similar to this inside a bandoneon... very cool. I made a version in scratchboard, since there are not enough good bandoneon things on this site (or anywhere, actually). And we bandoneon (and tango) fans need stuff too!

Description: Roberto Firpo (1884-1969) was an Argentine tango pianist, composer, and orchestra leader. He would have rather been a farmer, (or cattle rancher), but he went bankrupt when he tried it. So he had to continue to slog it our with his super-renowned orchestra...look at that face! One can just imagine him as an accidental 'rock-star' of his time. Firpo was among the first innovators of the classic tango music genre. He was the creator of the standard tango sextet, and the establisher of the piano in the tango orchestra. He was the first to play 'La Cumparsita'! For me, it's interesting that he's considered 'conservative' as an Orquesta leader. If you listen to some of his milongas, you'd think they were recorded by a gang of methed-up ...
