"The Helm of Awe
I wore before the sons of men
In defense of my treasure;
Amongst all, I alone was strong,
I thought to myself,
For I found no power a match for my own."
Þetta Reddast (pronounced thet-ta re-dust) means it's all going to work out in the end.
It is a part of Icelandic culture, and a peculiar part of the “local knowledge”: but also extremely up to date because of the recent situation with the world pandemic first, and all the other troubles that keep affecting our world and our lives. It is a positive message, it is from Iceland, the land of the N-ice!
Iceland is very much linked to its weather. Unpredictable, moody, surprisingly harsh or filled with rainbows and sunny spells!
I have created an abstract artwork with technical symbols of precipitations, that I find cute and decorative.
"There was a belief that a monster was in a journey: it was the Christmas Cat!" If you know the story, you already know that is part of the icelandic Christmas folklore, and that you will love this purr-evil version of it!
The shape of Iceland takes the place of the famous prism, as it actually behaves like one, reflecting light in million of rainbows pretty much all year around.
The prism has also a meaning of divine, of enlightment and knowledge, and here probably still has, in the shape of Iceland, as getting to know it through traveling, and discovering its marvellous spots, is itself a great experience that many (including me) don’t manage to find the words for this wonder.

In Norse mythology, Huginn (from Old Norse "thought") and Muninn (Old Norse "memory" or "mind") are a pair of ravens that fly all over the world, Midgard, and bring information to the viking god Odin.

Unknown Iceland of course is inspired by the iconic debut album cover from Joy Division “Unknown Pleasures”.
The waves, originally based on an image of radio waves from pulsar CP 1919, become the shape of Iceland, and the title becomes “Unknown Iceland” referring to how this island is full of mysterious ancient tales, deserted places, and incredible scenaries all to discover.

The Greeks proposed the existence of five basic elements. Of these, four were the physical elements—fire, air, water, and earth—of which the entire world is composed.
The fifth element, which goes by a variety of names, is more rarefied. Something you can't really define. Some call it Spirit. Others call it Aether or Quintessence (literally "the fifth element" in Latin). I call it Iceland.
Iceland is the place where you can experience the Elements in their raw expression.
If you visited Reykjavík you will smile now, as all the houses downtown are coloured and cute, like this artwork I drawn by hand, and finished digitally.
I love arctic cotton! It is so nice to see it moving gracefully in the wind, so delicate and tiny, I imagined it like small characters enjoying the summer!
