Description: Black and white ink drawing of a grey squirrel. This illustration is based off one of my own photo's of a squirrel that I saw and photographed in the New Forest National Park, England. Hand-drawn using ink pens on Bristol board. The Eastern gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) is native to North America, but they're everywhere here in the UK. They're an invasive species, but still very cute!

Description: Hand-drawn illustration of a sun bear. I made this drawing using fine ink pens on Bristol board. Sun bears (Helarctos malayanus) are found in tropical forest areas of Southeast Asia. These are the smallest bear species and have short sleek back fur with a cream on their chests which is how they got their name, and a light brown nose.

Description: Black and white ink illustration of a Polar bear cub. The cub is sitting up and almost looks to be waving, so cute! I made this drawing using ink pens on Bristol board. My drawings take many hours to do as I layer the fur using a very fine pen. Polar bears (Ursus maritimus) are a vulnerable species of bear found only in the Arctic. These bears have evolved to adapt to their cold environment with thick white fur and spend most of their lives on the sea ice.

Description: Detailed ink illustration of a white tiger. This drawing was hand-drawn using fine ink pens. White tigers are often a hybrid of various tiger species, but they are believed to descend from Bengal tigers. Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) is an endangered subspecies of tiger found across Indian and other parts of Asia. The tiger is an apex predator recognisable by its reddish orange fur and black stripes and a long tail. All tiger species are listed as endangered.

African penguins (Spheniscus demersus), or cape penguin are an endangered species of bird found only in South African waters. Penguins are flightless birds, their wings have developed into flippers which are perfect for their habitat. African penguins are very similar in appearance to the more commonly seen humboldt penguin, it is quite hard to tell them apart! African penguins are distinguished by a pink area of skin above the eye and a narrower band across the chest.

I created this drawing using a stippling technique in ink on Bristol board. Using stippling you build up texture using thousands of tiny dots. I later added colour to the drawing by layering alcohol markers on top of the ink.

Robin redbreasts (Erithacus rubecula) are a small songbird that are found across Europe and many other parts of the world. They are famous for their orange red breast feathers, but these birds also have a very cute round appearance, especially when they are fluffy in winter, with brown and grey plumage on the rest of their bodies.

Found only around the Banggai Islands of Indonesia, Banggai cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni) have an elegant appearance, with white bodies that are striped with black and highlighted with small white spots along their fins and tails. These small tropical fish are very popular as an aquarium pet and are also sadly endangered due to this.

Description: Black and white illustration of a dwarf mongoose. Common dwarf mongoose (Helogale parvula) are a mongoose species found in parts of Africa. These tiny critters have short fur that is usually red brown to dark brown in colour. Dwarf mongoose live in large family groups and I have often seen them in the pose that I’ve captured here, standing on their back legs whilst being on lookout which is a common pose also often seen in their relation, the meerkat.
