Let's let Wikipedia take over: "He was born Luis Antonio Dámaso de Alonso in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, and originally intended to become a bullfighter like his father. When the family moved to the United States, however, he became interested in acting when he was picked at random for a role as an extra. He chose his screen name by combining the names of his favorite actors, John Gilbert and Ruth Roland. He was often cast in the stereotypical 'Latin Lover' role. Description: The Voyeur is a graphic that dates back to Monday, July 18, 2011. Originally produced for a presentation in San Antonio, Texas. Like most of the Textmex/Mextasy project, this particular digital manipulation focuses on the eyes of the spectator--consumers of Mexican stereotypes for the better part of their lives, they are here revealed, denuded, exposed. The graphic is composed mainly of three 'found' graphic pieces featuring a handsome anglo watcher, Salma Hayek, and Alfonso Bedoya (from a TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE screengrab).
