Jacob T-Shirt

Description: Featured in Older Kids aged 8 - 16 - June 09 - Thank you so much to the hosts! Two of my sons, Jacob, 15, and Joshua, 14, were kind enough to pose for me for a competition on inspi.re themed Opposites, in black and white. The whole thing was their idea, actually, and they're quite pleased with themselves at the results (though I can tell you they gave me plenty of truly goofy shots to sort through before I got to this one!!) Canon 400D, natural light.
Description: Featured in the Good News Group - June 09 - thank you very much to the hosts!! Placed third in the Little Miss Photogenic challenge in the First Things Group - June 09 - thanks for the votes!! I took this for a 'colourful portrait' comp on inspi.re... I smile every time I see this because she reminds me so much of one of her dolls. Not exactly high art, but I like it. ( :
Description: Not very original, I know ( : There was a water drops competition on inspi.re and I just had to try this. I kind of liked the way it turned out, the composition and the light, but I know that there are such stupendously awesome works along these lines in the bubble..... well, what can I say? let this be an homage to those wonderful artists!! Canon 400D, 100mm macro lens
Description: Featured in Children - the Power of Raw Emotion - June 09 - thanks so much! Placed in the Top Ten in the challenge Portrait Collaborations in the Collaborations Group - June 09 This is a portrait of "Julia's" beautiful daughter which she has kindly let me work on ( : Please go and have a look at her work - it's awesome!!!
Description: Featured in The Good News group - June 09 - thank you so much! Featured in ! Hairstyles ! - June 09 - Thank you so much to the hosts!! Featured in the Good News group - July 09 - Thank you! A simple portrait of my joyous daughter, Grace, 6. Canon 400D, pp in photoshop, natural light
Description: Finished second in a 'sinful' challenge in the Woman Photographer Group - July 09 - thank you to those who voted! Been feeling like I wish there was more narrative in my work... not sure how I ended up here though, as, in retrospect, this is not a narrative that plays itself out in my life in any way or form, goodness knows where it came from. You guys can go ahead and psychoanalyse me, I'll shut up now... ( : Canon 400D, natural light, pp in photoshop CS2
Description: This portrait of Mila (2) was taken in the back garden. Her older sister, Perrin, ran around behind her holding a black cloth to act as a 'backdrop' for me. In true 2 year old style, she decided today was the day that she would NOT smile, and as for looking at the camera... you can forget it. Keeping still was also not an option. So this is the end result of a frustrating shoot, but maybe the more interesting for it.
Description: Featured in Still Life ~ Food Photography and Still life Paintings - July 09 - thanks very much to the hosts! Taken for a 'smell' comp on inspi.re, this was fun, but frustrating as I'm supposed to be dieting. Don't know why I did that to myself!! Luckily my kids were around to save me from myself and rapidly consumed all the available chocolate without complaining. (It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it.)
Downfall T-Shirt

Description: Featured in the Canon DSLR group - June 09 - thank you so much to the hosts!! Tane (8) and Grace (6) get an unconventional dose of vitamins... ( : (And yes, once again, we had fun. Plus, I paid them with chocolate and strawberries, in case anyone out there is wondering how my long-suffering kids put up with me and my camera.)
Description: Featured in Candid Photographs of Friends and Family - June 09 - thank you so much!! More playing with my kids (it's my job, and I like it fine!) Grace, 6, blowing bubbles. The hardest part of this one was keeping all the little ones out of the frame... they kept running in the way at the crucial moment, trying to catch the bubbles. When I was done they went off into the garden to blow and catch bubbles in peace. ( : Canon 400D, pp in photoshop CS2
Description: It was a really windy and freezing day when we shot this... I'd had this idea of using milk to contrast with Johnny's beautiful hands. Poor thing, it must have been freezing! In most of the shots the milk was flying all over the place because of the wind, and we were working outside because it was too dark to shoot inside. Johnny is a star. Destined for great things, I'm sure.
Description: This is the newest member of our family - Belle. She's a fox terrier X jack russell and very very cute and probably the most spoilt person in the house. ( : Canon 400D, shutter speed 1/160, aperture 5.6, ISO 400 Finished in the Top Ten in a challenge 'Dog Breeds' in the Paws n Claws group - July 09 - thank you for the votes!! ( :
Description: Featured in Pixelations - the art of Photoshop - July 09 - thanks very much! Me and Jacob (15) been playing!! we're having an ongoing debate in our house regarding how Jacob should wear his hair... Dad wants an afro, lol, but I'm not so sure. (Jacob wants cornrows of some sort.) We thought we would play around and see how it looks. (This kind of work is definitely not my strong suit, but I had fun!!)
