The Apache attack helicopter is an awesome weapons system designed to hunt and destroy tanks. It can operate in all weathers, day or night and detect, classify and prioritize up to 256 potential targets in a matter of seconds. It carries a mix of weapons including rockets, Hellfire missiles and a 30mm chain gun, as well as a state of the art fully integrated defensive aid suite. In addition to the distinctive Longbow radar located above the rotor blades, this aircraft is equipped with a day TV system, thermal imaging sight and direct view optics. Apaches have been deployed in Afghanistan where its abilities have made this machine legend!

The Bell HU-1 as it was original designated, quickly developed a nickname derived from HU-1, which came to be pronounced as “Huey”. The Huey later has the designation UH-1, UH is for Utility Helicopter and was developed by Bell Helicopter to meet the United States Army’s requirement for a medical evacuation and utility helicopter. The first combat operation of the UH-1 was in the Vietnam War, where approximately 7000 Hueys saw service and as a result has become one of the world’s most recognized helicopters.
