Description: Yeah, I know. Kind of a long winded design title. But it is just as the title suggests. This particular design is one I created from an artifact housed at the Seattle Art Museum. The artifact is a cedar casket with a blue bear design painted prominently at its center. This image is one I designed from that artifact, and painted on one of the panels of a blanket box that I had made for myself.
Description: This is an illustration of an antique Inari Temple flyer from turn of the 20th century. This particular temple burned to the ground many decades ago and no longer exists as it does in the flyer art. Look closely at the area above the foxes heads. It shows the old temple complex :)
Description: I originally drew this as a stencil for a street art project I had been working on for a Seattle business. It was drawn from a really early Hannya Oni mask , carved from wood. The word "oni" is a sort of "double entendre". One annunciation of the word "Oni" means woman, the other means "demon" or "devil". Often times this mask is carved to depict a female demon.... the most popular style of "yokai" or monsters in the Japanese pantheon of mythical creatures.
