Keswick, Cumbria, UK Keswick is an English market town and a civil parish in the Allerdale borough of Cumbria, England. Historically it was in Cumberland, and since 1974 has been in Cumbria. It lies within the Lake District National Park, Keswick is just north of Derwentwater and is four miles (six kilometres) from Bassenthwaite Lake. It had a population of 5,243 at the 2011 census. Derwentwater Tree Roots Derwentwater, or Derwent Water, is one of the principal bodies of water in the Lake District National Park in north west England. It lies wholly within the Borough of Allerdale, in the county of Cumbria. The lake occupies part of Borrowdale and lies immediately south of the town of Keswick. The stream flowing under Ashness Bridge near Derwentwater is known as Barrow Beck which flows down from Bleaberry Fell.. The building in the picture is Bark House, originally built to store oak bark from the nearby woods for processing in Keswick.

Standing by a rocky outcrop on the eastern shore of Derwentwater in Cumbria's beautiful Lake District and looking across to Catbells and the surrounding western fells. Derwentwater, 3 miles long,1 mile wide and 72 feet deep is fed by the River Derwent which rises high in Borrowdale and subsequently flows into Bassenthwaite and on to the Irish Sea at Workington. Being so close to the market town of Kewich here, it is sometimes unsurprisingly known as 'Keswick's Lake'.
