Pastel on Canson Paper - Blue - 70cm x 30cm This is another early painting which I scanned from a photograph. It was probably the first of my 'bush' paintings, and it is a view on the bush block where I live on an autumn morning with the mist rising in the valley and looking towards the Tallarook Ranges. Pastel on Mi-Teinte 'Tex' paper (burgundy) - 75cm x 55cm approx. This one came off the easel yesterday. My pastels really enjoyed this! Because of the full sheet size, I was able to swipe those pastel sticks around with gay abandon, concentrating on blue/orange complementary colours. The reference was obtained from a spot on the Goulburn River near Seymour, Victoria. I made a few small sketches to capture the colours, and took some reference photos too.

Pastel on Canson Mi-Teinte Tex Paper - Burgundy - 75cm x 55cm A commission I started last June and finished yesterday - 21st October! I have occasionally had a few moments to throw a bit of pastel around, but this is the first work I've completed for quite awhile! It feels good to get back into the studio. When the ironbark trees come into blossom, the cockatoos have a fantastic time picking the flowers, and leaving a carpet of blossom underneath the trees. Featured in Everyday Women - 23/10/14

Pastel on Canson Paper (Green) Another early work, and probably my only attempt EVER at painting flowers (which I have never had much luck with)! The Cootamundra Wattle turns the Australian countryside green & gold and gives us a hint that spring is on the way. It usually blooms around our area in late July. The start to 2015 has brought with it days of searing temperatures and bush fires, so I wish I was at the beach! 'Tahbilk Wetlands' - Pastel on Board - 38cm x 28cm approx. This was a challenge with pastel due to the size! The Tahbilk Wetlands are part of the historical Tahbilk Vineyard close to Nagambie in Central Victoria. I used a large sheet of framing mount board which I obtained from my framer, and resurfaced it using Colourfix clear primer mixed with purple acrylic paint to give a sanded surface,
