He was educated under Augustus Saint Gaudens at Cooper Union and worked in the Studio of Philip Martiny from 1888-1891. He was a member of the New York Artist League from 1894 - 1898. The years 1891 - 1893 are unaccounted for. (Speculation allows that he came to Chicago with many of his student colleagues to work on the World's Columbian Exposition.) Forest Idyl by Albin Polasek (1879 - 1965) Bronze 1903. A period of study at the American Academy in Rome helped develop Polasek's sense of style and affinity for the human figure. After his return to America in 1913, he took a job as head of the sculpture department at the Art Institute in Chicago.
