Canon Rebel T3i. Wood Nymphs with pipes (c)1932 by Henry Hering..Born on February 15, 1874 in New York City. He was educated under Augustus Saint Gaudens at Cooper Union and worked in the Studio of Philip Martiny from 1888-1891. He was a member of the New York Artist League from 1894 - 1898. The years 1891 - 1893 are unaccounted for. (Speculation allows that he came to Chicago with many of his student colleagues to work on the World's Columbian Exposition.) Hering studied in Paris from 1898 - 1901 at the Colarossi Academy and the Ecole des Beaux Arts. Canon Rebel T3i. Nymph by Paul Fjelde (1892 - 1984) Bronze, 1932. Fjelde's early skill in creating busts and portrait reliefs enabled him to become an assistant to Lorado Taft in Chicago. Derujunsky's work included a large number of biblical themes such as this powerful rendition of Samson and the Lion. Forest Idyl by Albin Polasek (1879 - 1965) Bronze 1903. A period of study at the American Academy in Rome helped develop Polasek's sense of style and affinity for the human figure. After his return to America in 1913, he took a job as head of the sculpture department at the Art Institute in Chicago. "Dionysus" by Edward McCartan (1879-1947), crowned with ivy, stands nonchalantly, one knee sharply bent, hand on hips. He hold a thrysus over the head of a panther which curls behind his legs. A piece of drapery is draped over his left wrist and thigh. Originally designed in 1923, was enlarged and remodeled for Brookgreen Gardens in 1936.
