I took a lily from a bunch of flowers into the garden and look who else fell in love with it. The fact that it can be seen in most months of the year is no doubt in part due to it hibernating through the winter but emerging on warmer days. Records indicate that it may be the commonest and most widespread hoverfly in Britain.
