Movie Gallery opened as a small specialty video store in 1985 in Dothan, Alabama. The next five years saw them grow to about 50 stores, but tn the '90s, an aggressive expansion strategy saw the chain become one of the biggest video rental operations in the U.S., with over 950 locations. In the early 2000s, Movie Gallery was the second-largest rental chain in the U.S. and Canada, with over 4,700 stores worldwide. Despite the company's meteoric rise, by the end of the decade, digital downloads and streaming had taken their toll on video rental stores, and Movie Gallery was not immune. In April 2010, the company was headed into bankruptcy, and began liquidating all of its stores... the last Movie Gallery locations were closed in August 2010.

The Goonies movie inspired

The 1973 British outlaw biker horror film Psychomania was released in the United States as The Death Wheelers and is a wonderfully bad B-movie. The story focuses on an amiable, psychopathic leader of a violent teen motorbike gang who is spurred by his mother, a Satan-worshiping spiritual medium, into committing suicide and returning to life as an "undead." The film is without question a bikesploitation flick, but set in the UK instead of America, as most entries to the genre are.

SuperVan is a 1977 American vansploitation film that features a very heavily modified van central to the storyline. It is an action adventure comedy road movie and is rated PG. The story follows Clint Morgan as he goes to The Invitational Freak-Out for custom van enthusiasts intending to enter his van, The Sea Witch, in a contest. In saving a runaway, Karen, from a bike gang, Clint loses his van. He goes to his friend Bosley, a rebel designer, who lets Clint and Karen enter his solar-powered laser-firing custom van, Vandora, in place of The Sea Witch. Based on a stock Sportsman van, some of SuperVan's most unusual features are solar panels, the ability to emit laser beams, and a complete custom body.

Alfred Hitchcock Rope Rope is a 1948 American psychological crime thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, based on the 1929 play of the same name by Patrick Hamilton. The film was adapted by Hume Cronyn with a screenplay by Arthur Laurents. It focuses on Two brilliant young aesthetes strangle to death their former classmate in their Manhattan penthouse apartment. They commit the crime as an intellectual exercise; they want to prove their superiority by committing the "perfect murder". It is notable for taking place in real time and being edited so as to appear as a single continuous shot through the use of long takes. The film stars James Stewart, John Dall and Farley Granger.

Morgan Horse Farm Ltd. is the fictional horse breeding facility that was a pivotal location in the 2002 horror movie, The Ring. Located on the equally fictional Moesko Island off the coast of Washington State, it was the residence of the Morgan family, which included horse trainer Richard Morgan, his horse breeder wife, Anna Morgan, and their adopted daughter, Samara. When their daughter Samara became jealous of the affection shown towards the horses, instead of to her, she used her psychokinetic powers to drive the horses insane, driving them to end their lives. If you like obscure references, this Morgan Horse Farm design is about as obscure as it gets!

The Big Combo is a 1955 American film noir crime film directed by Joseph H. Lewis and photographed by cinematographer John Alton, with music by David Raksin. The film stars Cornel Wilde, Richard Conte and Brian Donlevy, as well as Jean Wallace, who was Wilde's wife at the time. It also included the final screen appearance of actress Helen Walker.

Bloody Birthday is a 1981 slasher film directed by Ed Hunt and starring Susan Strasberg, José Ferrer, and Lori Lethin. The film begins In 1970 when three children are born at the height of a total eclipse. Due to the sun and moon blocking Saturn, which controls emotions, they become heartless killers ten years later, and are able to escape detection because of their youthful and innocent facades. A boy and his teenage sister become endangered when they stumble onto the bloody truth. Despite the film's primarily negative reception, Bloody Birthday has since accrued a cult following.

The term Lisztomania was coined by Heinrich Heine to describe the public response to Franz Liszt's virtuosic piano performances that made him the world's first pop star. Lisztomania was chosen as the title for the 1975 British surreal biographical musical comedy film written and directed by Ken Russell about Liszt. The screenplay is derived, in part, from the book Nélida by Marie d'Agoult (1848), about her affair with Liszt. The film included synthesizer arrangements of works by Liszt. The film starred a laundry list of '70s rock stars and celebrities. The film tells of Liszt's life through surrealistic episodes, blending fact, fantasy, and anachronistic elements.

Killer shark movies got their start back in the '50s, and ended up being a film genre all their own that continues to be explored to this very day. From the absurd and ridiculous to the serious and realistic, there is no shortage of shark movies, over 180 of them, including the Japanese dubbed sequel, Monsutākirāsame 2 from 1978.
