A sultry evening, a time of sweat and humidity, of night as thick as treacle, redolent of orange blossom, pizza dough and the tantalising passing clouds of expensive perfume. A dusk of pink sky, the magic punctuated by the incessant sounds of the city, scooters and buses, car horns and Mizrachi music from passing radios. I find the bakery, hot and neon-lit, and it transports me to a time long ago, memories of taste and texture and interiors that once looked like this. Rows of oily filled pastries tempt me, stuffed with meat and potato, dates and nuts and honey. This work is a wonderful gift, a great souvenir of Israel

Honor the guys and gals in the IDF. The IDF was established on May 31, 1948, just two weeks after Israel's declaration of independence. Since its creation, its guiding principles have been shaped by the country's need to defend itself from its numerically superior neighbours.

In the stillness of the late afternoon evening twilight filters through the frosted glass of a Bauhaus window, warming my face. It feels timeless, or certainly as though the decades had somehow melted away and I was in the 1930s. Particles of dust float silently. From the various flats I hear muffled noises, the piercing beeps of the radio news on the hour, the sound of someone practising the piano, an animated mother daughter argument from further up the floors. The painting focuses on one landing, and what is below and above remains a mystery. The colours are muted, earthy, full of shadow and the windows a gentle play of soft colour. A perfect gift, a great addition to any collection of architecturally-themed work.

This photo was taken by me on the way to work in the early morning, when the clouds, colored by the gentle light of the rising sun, were fancifully reflected in the windows of skyscrapers

In the south of Tel Aviv, I spotted this yellow building. The south of the city drew me in, a contrast to where I used to live. It was harsher here, tattier and yet I could strip away the layers of clutter to see how it once was, when the buildings were new and white. A time of new beginnings, of hope and dread and youth. Feral cats stare at me, their eyes malevolent and suspicious. It is cool, a welcome freshness, a breeze from the Mediterranean. I wander into the open stairwells, places of dark shadow and stone, places of clutter, where dozens of letter boxes are bent out of shape, stickers faded and layered like papier maché. I smell fried food, muffled voices, an aroma of baking. On the hour, four long beeps signal the start of a new...

The emblem of Israel is an escutcheon which contains a menorah in its center, two olive branches on both sides of the menorah and at the bottom the label "Israel" in Hebrew.

The Israeli Navy (Hebrew: חיל הים הישראלי, Ḥeil HaYam HaYisraeli, lit. '[The] Israeli Sea Corps'; Arabic: البحرية الإسرائيلية) is the naval warfare service arm of the Israel Defense Forces, operating primarily in the Mediterranean Sea theater as well as the Gulf of Eilat and the Red Sea theater. The current commander in chief of the Israeli Navy is Aluf David Saar Salama. The Israeli Navy is believed to be responsible for maintaining Israel's offshore nuclear second strike capability.

The Israeli Air Force's insignia is a blue Star of David on a white circle. The Israeli Air Force is the air and space arm of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Israeli Air Force (IAF; Hebrew: זְרוֹעַ הָאֲוִיר וְהֶחָלָל, romanized: Zroa HaAvir VeHahalal, lit. 'tl', "Air and Space Arm", commonly known as חֵיל הָאֲוִיר‎, Kheil HaAvir, "Air Corps") operates as the aerial warfare branch of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). It was founded on May 28, 1948, shortly after the Israeli Declaration of Independence.
