Barrow Beck flows down from Bleaberry Fell in the Lake District near Derwentwater and Keswick, Here it flows down to Ashness Bridge from where the picture was taken on its way to Derwentwater. The building in the picture is Bark House, originally built to store oak bark from the nearby woods.

Ashness Bridge, Cumbria Ashness Bridge is a traditional stone-built bridge on the single-track road from the Borrowdale road (B5289) to Watendlath, in the English Lake District, Cumbria. The brisge is at grid reference NY270196, and is known for being a fine viewpoint across Borrowdale towards Skiddaw, including views of Derwent Water nearby. It or its predecessor may have been a packhorse bridge conveying packhorse traffic from Watendlath to Keswick. Near the bridge is a small cairn to Bob Graham, who ran a round of 42 Lakeland peaks in 1932 (in under 24 hours), a record which was not equalled for 28 years. Catbells From Derwent Water, Cumbria, UK Catbells or Cat Bells is a fell in the English Lake District in the county of Cumbria. It has a height of 451 metres and is one of the most popular fells in the area. Looking over Derwentwater towards the town of Keswick on a summer afternoon. Behind the town rise with the slopes of Skiddaw. The lake is surrounded by magnificent fells and, as a result, the area is popular with walkers. Here pleasure boats tie up and take on passengers for tours of the lake which is 3 miles long, a mile wide - and 72 feet deep! Keswick's local lake is only a ten minute walk from the centre of town. To its west rise the fells of Cat Bells. To the east is the fantastic viewpoint of Friar's Crag, jutting into the lake. And its southern foot is the entrance to the beautiful Borrowdale valley

Derwentwater is the widest of the lakes in Cumbria - the Lake District. Overlooked by the mighty Skiddaw and with the bustling market town of Keswick.

From an original watercolour this show Derwent Water in the UK Lake District as an early evening mist rolls in from the mountains. A beautiful and atmospheric scene, this is where my art career was to begin four months later after a serious shoulder injury but that's another story!!
