"Smelling each others' butts is just another example of chemical communication in the animal kingdom. It's like 'speaking with chemicals,' and that's how dogs ask about another dog's diet, gender, and emotional state." according to iflscience.com. "He's a fellar (didn't need to sniff his poop chute when I can see his nards), he ate Raisin Bran this morning >gags<, and he's irritated because I'm sniffin' his loaf pincher." Aren't you glad we don't do this? http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

After yesterday's post I didn't want to leave out the ladies (or fellars... I don't judge). When I was drawing this I had a lot of reference material on my screen. Wife walked in, I got the look, and it took me minute to realize why I was about to die. "It's not what it looks like! It's for reference!" That's ok. Our futon is super comfy. http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

I've been wanting to do some sort of Aztec or Mayan inspired design. In my search for reference material, I found a Mayan sculpture depicting life, death, and rebirth. It wasn't quite what I was looking for, but the design really grabbed me. While the inspiration depicts life's stages, my design is simple. Skin, muscle and bone. One of the fun goals with this drawing was making the muscles and bone appear somewhat accurate based on the face, which was drawn first. The proportions are not accurate by any means and it created a challenge as the drawing got more and more complex. Anyways. There's the inspiration and a little extra info for the design. I hope you enjoy. http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

Years of the poultry industry pumping chickens full of hormones and chemicals created the sentient parkour-lovin' egg we've all come to know as Humpty Dumpty, but nothing could prepare us for the day they caused him to rise from his shattered state and eat all the king's horses and all the king's men thus beginning the zombie yolk apocalypse. http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

Though the original quote uses the word "mightier, it makes me think of Chaucer from "A Knight's Tale" when the character references the real Geoffrey Chaucer's work, "The Canterbury Tales". "I will eviscerate you in fiction. Every pimple, every character flaw. I was naked for a day; you will be naked for eternity." Over 600 years later and you can still read how they were exposed. The power of words is fascinating, beautiful and frightening all at the same time. http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

Spoilers (for a 62 year old movie)! The Creature from the Black Lagoon is SO misunderstood. He's not evil. First he's kills some fellars in a camp that just dug up his great-great-grandpappy. You go to the country and dig up some redneck's kin and see how long it takes them to get the shotgun. Next he sees a hotty and just wants to touch her. It's weird, but what's wrong with a little foot fetish. It looks like he stalks some folks next, but keep in mind the leader of the grave robbers is with them. He's just trying to keep his great-great-granny safe. He swims with the hotty (unknown to her). Sure, he got a little creepy, but consider the ladies he normally has to look at. Brenda Tuna-Lips and Gertrude Eel-Breath. Eventually he get...

Masks are interesting when you think about it. Figuratively speaking everyone wears one (literally considering the physical face does not always represent the psychological or subconscious). I've heard it said when the masks are removed (or in some cases put on) we see the true person. I think we're the sum of our parts. "AD" may be my mask, but it's also who I am. With the internet our devices become our mask. What do you think about masks? Do you think you wear one? http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

Popsicles in their natural habitat are peaceful beings. They work. They play. They take their Popsiclets to school. They have no natural enemies with one exception. Humans... Human poachers abduct unsuspecting Popsicles, cram a stick up their rear and suffocate them in bags covered in bright cheerful advertising targeting children. The next time you're in the frozen food section at your local grocery store, take a moment to think about where your food comes from. If you see someone buying Popsicles, toss Kool-Aid on them in protest to show your support. http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

For those that don't know, Sisyphus was punished by the Grerek gods and had to roll a boulder up a hill only to have it roll back down and the process repeated for eternity. You ever feel like you have a task or a goal, you put in all your effort to get to the top, and have to start all over? I sometimes feel no matter how much work I put in or how hard I try, I never quiet get there (though "there" is a completely different topic). I finally get to a point where I have to tell myself to stop being a "sissy fuss" and keep looking forward. Of course it reminds me of the quote "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results." to which I ask, what do you even know, Mr. Einstein... Or whoever actua...

I'd like to introduce to you my biggest critic. My brain. This squishy, nerdy, wrinkled, little, scruffy nerf herder is just plain mean. He is the most critical viewer I have. He knows my biggest doubts and fears and often uses them against me keeping me on a constant roller coaster of self doubt battling confidence and often self esteem. He never shuts up. "Their all going to laugh at you!" "I know, brain! That's the point when you draw a joke." To my detriment, his opinion often overpowers anything else I hear or read. If he didn't like it so much, I'd punch him in the face with alcohol to shut him up. Can you relate? http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

When I was in high school I got $1.25 for lunch. That just happen to be the same price for a Drumstick ice cream in a cone. I recently rediscovered the ice cream and they are SO yummy. When I was a kid I could only eat one. As a grown adult, it's really difficult not to say "I'M A GROWN MAN!" and eat all the ice cream. Dangit... Now I'm craving one. http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

The warden and I recently stayed in a cabin next to a lake for a weekend. We didn't bring many toys for Mini AD, but thought he'd stay entertained by the TV in the cabin when we weren't outside exploring all the trails the park advertised. To make a long story short, we get to the cabin and the TV has 2 channels and we only found 1 trail, which Mini AD hated walking on. By the end of the weekend I was going absolutely batty. I have NEVER wanted vacation to end so badly. http://www.artisticdyslexia.com/

When I was younger, my family would often go to the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. On one visit, the lion was roaring. It was incredibly loud.
