When I heard a friend of mine talking about camaraderie with other men and how good it felt to be free of alpha male toxic masculinity, my mind went to "nontoxic" and from there to crayons. Description: Trying to stop something that hurts yourself, everyone around you, and the environment IS pretty cool.

Description: Another redesign. I painted this a year or two ago, when the community had an outpouring of flag redesigns. The symbolism behind this flag is what inspired me to start painting my symbol Pride flags - I LOVE the nod to violets. This one originally had the pink triangle in place of the interlocking Venus symbol, because it was what I first thought of when I saw that shade of pink, but this much more associated with women who love women. The naval star is something that butches used to tattoo under their watch bands as a signal to other queer folk, and the labrys (axe) is a symbol of women's strength associated with Amazons

Description: Plastic is one of the least eco-friendly or "kind" materials, if not THE least. So it puzzles me when otherwise eco-conscious, lefty people go for "vegan leather" (plastic) over materials like linen or wool, which are durable and sustainable. Blocks are, in order: an oil slick, a war over petroleum, factory smoke/plastic ingestion by sea life, and a tar pit trapping a saber-toothed cat.

Designing around both black and white is really tough, and the first version had the line art white so I could make the rings black, but I thought that looked a jarring so I read it. Meanings of symbols: Black rings are worn on the right middle finger to signal to other aces, the cards are a pun on the word "ace," the white triangle is a symbol commonly seen on AVEN representing low/no sexual attraction, and the dragons are the community's way of having fun with the "that's not real!!!" complaint

Description: I've been having a ton of fun with symbol Pride flags. Something that I enjoy and that particularly helped me when I was newly out is learning more about the rich culture and history that queer people have built through the ages. I like painting these because I get to show all that off and maybe teach people something new.

This one was difficult, because for the first two, I was able to align the color of the flag with the color of the symbol - purple for violets and so on. The rainbow ended up having to be all pink for this one, but I like to think the design still works. And of course, the biangles and Bi moons are such fun symbols
